An Orang Asli family of six from Kampung Orang Asli Sebir, Labu has received a brand-new home through IJM Land’s myHome Programme, marking a meaningful milestone as Seremban 2 celebrates its 30th anniversary. The fully rebuilt home reflects the developer’s long-standing mission to uplift vulnerable communities and strengthen its pledge of “Connecting Lives, Shaping Futures.”

The family previously lived in a one-room bamboo house that had severely deteriorated and could no longer provide safety or adequate space. After assessing the structure, IJM Land determined that repairing the old home would not be enough. Instead, the team made the decision to demolish and rebuild the entire house — making this the first Orang Asli household to benefit directly from the myHome initiative.

“This year holds special meaning for us,” said IJM Land Chief Operating Officer, Datuk Chai. “As we celebrate 30 years of Seremban 2, we want to honour the communities who have been part of this journey. The Orang Asli community is very much woven into this land’s history, and we are committed to ensuring our support reaches them too.”

The new home was constructed with reinforced materials, improved ventilation, durable roofing, quality paintwork, and tiled flooring, made possible through contributions from IJM Land’s long-time partners: FWT Construction, Nippon Paint, Feruni Ceramiche, Swissma Building Technologies, Rockwool Malaysia, and Econframe Marketing. The family also received essential appliances, furniture, groceries, and children’s items to help ease their transition into the new space.

Valued at RM80,000, the rebuild continues the legacy of the myHome Programme, launched in 2010 to provide safe and dignified homes for families in need across Negeri Sembilan. To date, 16 families — including Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Orang Asli households — have benefited from the initiative, which extends long-term support through ongoing festive engagements.

“With each home we complete, we are reminded of the lasting impact this programme brings,” added Datuk Chai. “This is more than providing shelter — it’s about giving families renewed hope and a pathway toward a better future. As we move forward, IJM Land will continue reaching out to more communities who need support the most.”

As Seremban 2 marks 30 years of development, the rebuilt Orang Asli home stands as a powerful symbol of shared progress and IJM Land’s commitment to uplifting every family that calls the township home.
