TikTok Shop Boosts Support for Malaysian Sellers with RM250 Million Commitment

TikTok Shop Summit Malaysia 2026

TikTok Shop is strengthening its support for Malaysian businesses, highlighting discovery commerce and LIVE shopping as key drivers of growth at the TikTok Shop Summit Malaysia 2026.

The platform announced a total commitment of up to RM250 million in 2026 to support local sellers and creators through its JomLokal initiative and newly launched JomLokal Booster 2.0.

The summit was officially launched by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, reflecting continued government support for Malaysia’s growing digital commerce ecosystem.

LIVE Shopping Drives Growth

TikTok Shop says LIVE shopping is becoming increasingly popular among Malaysian consumers, with almost six in 10 users naming LIVE shopping as their preferred shopping format.

LIVE sales have also grown 48% year-on-year, now accounting for almost one-third of TikTok Shop’s sales in Malaysia. The platform says the combination of entertainment, community interaction and commerce is helping businesses turn product discovery into purchases more effectively.

RM250 Million for Local Businesses

Through #JomLokal, TikTok Shop has supported around 400,000 local sellers and creators while helping drive sales across more than 800,000 local products.

Following RM180 million in cost-of-living support introduced with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in June, TikTok Shop is adding another RM70 million through JomLokal Booster 2.0.

The latest programme includes 0% platform commission across an additional 44 sub-categories, along with financial support and subsidies covering logistics, promotional activities and other seller growth needs.

The JomLokal Club will also provide training, business matchmaking and community activities to help sellers and creators develop their businesses.

For consumers, the programme includes an RM2 rebate on standard shipping for all orders, as well as expanded delivery options such as Sea Shipping for East Malaysia and nationwide self-collection points.

Fast-Growing Categories

TikTok Shop also highlighted several categories that are seeing strong growth on the platform. Between July 2025 and July 2026, Automotive grew 70%, Household Appliances 58%, Pet Supplies 57%, Home Improvement 47%, and Baby & Maternity 45%.

The platform also reported that Malaysian sellers achieved a 51% increase in sales during the Ramadan and Raya period compared with regular days, highlighting the growing importance of discovery-led and LIVE commerce during major shopping seasons.

With the upcoming 9.9, 11.11 and 12.12 campaigns, TikTok Shop expects discovery commerce to remain an important growth channel for local businesses.

Helping Local Businesses Reach More Customers

TikTok Shop says 97% of surveyed businesses consider TikTok an important source of revenue, while 72% value the platform for reaching new audiences. Around 59% also highlighted the ability to interact directly with customers and gather feedback.

With e-commerce continuing to play an important role in Malaysia’s digital economy, TikTok Shop aims to give local MSMEs, entrepreneurs and homegrown brands more opportunities to reach consumers and grow through content-driven commerce.

Businesses interested in joining the platform can register through TikTok Shop Seller Center, while training resources are available through TikTok Shop Academy.
