HONOR Magic9 Pro Max Captures High-Speed Motorsport Action at Sepang
HONOR’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Magic9 Pro Max, recently made an appearance at Sepang International Circuit, where it was used alongside professional photography equipment to capture high-speed motorsport action.
The showcase took place shortly after the smartphone was launched in China on 28 September 2026, giving Malaysian photographers an early look at its imaging capabilities.

Motorsport photography is one of the more demanding forms of photography, requiring fast autofocus, accurate tracking and sharp images to capture cars travelling at speeds of more than 300km/h. Professional photographers typically rely on dedicated cameras and large telephoto lenses to freeze the action.
The appearance of the Magic9 Pro Max among professional camera equipment therefore attracted attention at the circuit. One photographer at the event said the smartphone initially appeared to be used casually, but was surprised by the sharpness and level of detail in the resulting images.
A Major Camera Upgrade for HONOR

The Magic9 Pro Max marks the 10th anniversary of HONOR’s Magic series and is positioned by the company as one of the biggest upgrades in the lineup’s history.

Among its key highlights is a dual 200MP ARRI cinematic imaging system, with HONOR placing particular emphasis on telephoto capabilities and high-speed photography. These features are designed to help the device handle challenging subjects such as fast-moving vehicles while maintaining image detail.
The smartphone has also generated strong interest in China. According to HONOR, the Magic9 series took the top position among newly launched Android flagship smartphones on its first sales day, with sales reportedly increasing 194% within the first 30 minutes compared with the previous generation.
Malaysia Availability Still Pending
HONOR has not yet announced when the Magic9 Pro Max will officially arrive in Malaysia.
Its appearance at Sepang, however, provides an early indication of HONOR’s focus on pushing smartphone photography beyond conventional everyday shooting. With flagship competition increasingly centred on areas such as long-range zoom, fast subject tracking and high-speed image capture, the Magic9 Pro Max is positioning itself as a smartphone capable of handling more demanding photography scenarios.
Malaysian consumers can follow HONOR Malaysia’s official channels for updates on local availability and launch details.
