CelcomDigi has unveiled the next phase of CD, its talent development initiative aimed at preparing Malaysia’s future workforce for the growing digital economy.

The latest phase introduces three key programmes: campus@celcomdigi, the Young Talent Programme (YTP) and Certifications, bringing together universities, industry professionals and learners to provide more practical pathways into digital careers.

The initiative was officiated by Datuk Prof Dr. Azlinda Azman, Director General of the Ministry of Higher Education, on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Bringing Industry Experience Into the Classroom

At the centre of the new initiative is campus@celcomdigi, a work-based learning programme designed to give university students direct exposure to real industry environments.

Second-year students will work on actual business challenges as part of their coursework while receiving guidance from CelcomDigi professionals. Selected final-year students will then have the opportunity to undertake industry residencies at CelcomDigi’s headquarters, working with experienced teams on live projects.

The programme will initially involve Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kuala Lumpur and HELP University. CelcomDigi aims to reach more than 300 students annually through the final-year residency programme, with plans to expand to more institutions in the future.

Building Future Leaders

The Young Talent Programme, launched in 2025, provides a structured two-year development pathway for high-potential graduates.

Participants gain experience through rotational assignments, mentorship and strategic projects across areas such as cloud engineering, cybersecurity, data and business analytics, digital product development, and AI and automation.

Following its first successful intake, the programme has welcomed a second cohort of 20 young talents, giving them opportunities to develop both technical capabilities and leadership skills early in their careers.

Expanding Access to Emerging Technologies

The third component, Certifications, builds on CelcomDigi’s Metaversity platform by providing learning opportunities in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and extended reality.

The programme is designed for school and university students as well as working professionals, offering recognised industry qualifications to help Malaysians strengthen their digital capabilities.

Through CD, CelcomDigi aims to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while developing talent equipped with the skills, experience and adaptability required for Malaysia’s digital future.

CelcomDigi CEO Albern Murty said the company remains committed to working with the government and education sector to create opportunities for young Malaysians to develop their careers, innovate and contribute to the country’s long-term economic growth.
