The Huawei Cloud AI Ecosystem Summit APAC 2025 outlined a bold vision to accelerate AI-driven economic growth in Malaysia and across ASEAN, with plans to cultivate 30,000 AI talents and nurture 200 AI partners over the next three years.
The summit, held as part of the ASEAN AI Summit 2025, brought together government leaders, industry experts, and technology innovators to explore how cloud and AI technologies can drive transformation in key sectors such as healthcare and manufacturing.
Government Emphasises Ethical, Sustainable AI Adoption
Minister of Digital Malaysia, YB Gobind Singh Deo, stressed that AI development must be guided by ethics, sustainability, and national priorities.
“Our National AI Office is accelerating the completion of the AI Technology Action Plan 2026–2030 and related regulatory frameworks to ensure adoption in key sectors is ethical, sustainable, and of high value,” he said, highlighting the role of public-private collaboration in Malaysia’s digital economy strategy.
Huawei’s Commitment: Talent, Partners, and Investments
Huawei Malaysia CEO Simon Sun announced the Huawei Malaysia AI Talent Programme, aiming to train a diverse pool of 30,000 Malaysians — including students, government officials, and industry leaders — in AI skills over three years.
Huawei also targets the development of 200 local AI partners through technology transfer, solution collaboration, and partnerships with top Chinese AI companies. Sun noted that Huawei Cloud will act as a bridge for AI investment into Malaysia, spurring innovation and supporting the creation of new local AI enterprises.
These initiatives are part of the Huawei Cloud APAC AI Ecosystem Initiative, first announced by Sun in the presence of Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the ASEAN AI Summit’s opening day — a signal of the government’s strong support for strategic AI partnerships.
