Samsung Brings HDR10+ ADVANCED to Prime Video, Starting with 2026 TVs
Samsung Electronics has announced a new milestone in home entertainment, with Prime Video becoming the first streaming platform to introduce HDR10+ ADVANCED on supported content globally from August 2026.
The next-generation HDR standard will initially be available on compatible Samsung 2026 TV models, bringing improvements in brightness, contrast and motion handling for supported movies, shows, sports and action content.
A More Dynamic HDR Experience
HDR10+ ADVANCED builds on the existing HDR10+ format and is designed for today’s premium televisions with larger displays, higher brightness levels and more powerful image processing.
One of its key features is Enhanced Overall Brightness, which uses additional metadata to make better use of a TV’s brightness capabilities. AI-powered tone mapping also helps preserve details in darker scenes while producing brighter highlights for content such as sports and action movies.
The new standard also introduces Intelligent Motion Smoothing. Scene-by-scene metadata allows compatible TVs to adjust motion processing depending on the content, helping maintain the cinematic appearance of movies while producing smoother motion during fast-paced scenes.
Prime Video First to Adopt HDR10+ ADVANCED
The partnership continues the relationship between Samsung and Prime Video, which dates back to 2017 when Prime Video became the first streaming service to offer HDR10+ content.
Since then, the HDR10+ ecosystem has expanded significantly, with more than 183 adopter companies and over 22,000 certified products.
HDR10+ ADVANCED will debut on Samsung’s 2026 TV lineup, with support expected to expand to additional products as the ecosystem develops.
For viewers, the technology promises a more immersive experience with brighter highlights, improved shadow detail and smoother motion — provided both the TV and streaming content support HDR10+ ADVANCED.
Note: HDR10+ ADVANCED is not supported when Filmmaker Mode is enabled.
