Samsung Galaxy Z Series: Here’s Why It’s Time to Upgrade

1

Samsung is making its latest foldables more appealing to users looking for a slimmer design, improved cameras, stronger performance and smarter AI features. The new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 introduce several upgrades aimed at making foldable phones more practical for everyday use.

Thinner and Lighter Designs

The latest Galaxy Z generation continues Samsung’s push towards slimmer and more comfortable foldables.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet at just 201g, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 is nearly 0.5mm thinner and 8g lighter than its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra also brings a slimmer profile while maintaining its larger display and flagship hardware.

Upgraded Camera Experience

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a 200MP main camera alongside an upgraded 50MP ultra-wide camera, providing greater detail for landscapes and everyday photography. Its wider ultra-wide aperture also improves brightness compared with the previous generation.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 features dual 50MP cameras, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 combines a 50MP wide camera with features such as FlexCam for hands-free shooting.

Samsung has also added Horizontal Lock to Super Steady on the Flip8, helping keep video footage level during movement.

Bigger Battery and More Performance

For users who spend long hours watching videos, gaming or working, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery and can deliver up to 27 hours of video playback under Samsung’s testing conditions.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, with improvements across CPU, GPU and NPU performance. Samsung says AI processing is up to 41% faster than the previous Flip generation, while CPU performance is up to 30% faster.

Galaxy Z Fold8: A New Foldable Experience

The Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a shorter and wider design intended to make the device feel more natural in everyday use.

Its 5.5-inch cover display is suited for quick tasks and social media, while unfolding the device reveals a 7.6-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio for movies, reading, multitasking and productivity.

The main display also features anti-reflection technology and up to 3,000 nits brightness, while Flex Titanium technology is designed to provide additional display support and durability.

Which Galaxy Z Should You Choose?

Samsung is positioning each model for a different type of user. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is aimed at users who want maximum camera capabilities, performance and battery life in a premium foldable.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 remains the more compact option for users who prioritise portability, creativity and hands-free photography.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold8 offers a redesigned foldable experience with a larger workspace, dual 50MP cameras and AI features optimised for the foldable form factor.
