Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6
Qualcomm Technologies has announced its latest flagship mobile platforms, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, bringing upgraded performance, AI processing, gaming, imaging and connectivity to the next generation of premium Android smartphones.
The new platforms place a stronger focus on on-device and agentic AI, allowing smartphones to handle more intelligent and personalised tasks directly on the device. Qualcomm says this approach is designed to make AI-powered features more responsive while reducing reliance on cloud processing.
Leading the new lineup is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, which is designed to support more advanced mobile AI agents capable of responding to users and adapting to different tasks throughout the day.
Gaming also receives an AI-driven upgrade through Adreno Neural Fusion, which combines graphics processing with AI techniques to deliver more advanced visual effects and immersive gaming experiences while improving efficiency.
Photography and video capabilities have also been enhanced. The flagship platform introduces Advanced Professional Video (APV) support alongside Intelligent Pixel Control, using AI-powered scene understanding to improve image and video quality and deliver more natural-looking results.
Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 brings many of these technologies to a broader range of premium devices. It is built using a 2nm process and features Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU, redesigned Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU.
Both platforms are designed around Qualcomm’s latest approach to agentic AI, allowing smartphones to perform more complex tasks locally and provide more personalised experiences across applications.
Qualcomm expects the new chipsets to power upcoming flagship smartphones from a wide range of manufacturers, including HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, REDMAGIC, Samsung, vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 were unveiled at Snapdragon Summit 2026, with the first devices featuring the new platforms expected to arrive in upcoming flagship smartphone launches.
