AMD Ryzen AI Max PCs Bring Perplexity Portable Computer to Local AI Workflows

AMD has announced that Perplexity Portable Computer is now available on supported Windows PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI Max Series processors, including the AMD Ryzen AI Halo developer platform.

The integration allows Perplexity subscribers to run selected AI tasks and recurring workflows directly on compatible PCs. Local AI processing can be performed on the user’s own hardware without consuming Perplexity Computer credits for inference.

AMD says the Ryzen AI Max platform is designed to support the growing demand for agentic AI, combining CPU and GPU performance with a large shared memory pool. This allows local AI models to run alongside regular applications and workflows.

The Ryzen AI Halo developer platform is aimed at developers, creators and AI innovators looking to experiment with locally running AI models and agents. By bringing Perplexity’s models and agent tools to Ryzen AI Max-powered systems, users can access AI capabilities locally while retaining the option of cloud-based processing when additional computing power is required.

According to AMD, the collaboration represents another step toward PCs that can not only run applications but also understand tasks, reason through problems and perform actions across different workflows.

Perplexity’s Portable Computer combines AI models, agent tools and user controls, while AMD’s Ryzen AI Max hardware provides the local computing resources needed to run these workloads.

The companies say the combination offers users greater flexibility in how they use AI, balancing local processing, performance and cloud-based AI capabilities on compatible Windows PCs.
