Huawei Pushes “Token Monetization” Vision with AI-Native Network Integration at MWC Shanghai 2026
At MWC Shanghai 2026, Huawei is showcasing new innovations that integrate services, networks, and computing to help telecom operators unlock new revenue opportunities in the emerging era of AI and “token monetization.”
Huawei says the industry is entering a new phase where connectivity, AI services, and computing power are converging. The company’s strategy, themed “Advancing All Intelligence,” focuses on helping carriers grow both traditional data traffic (“bytes”) and AI-driven services (“tokens”).
Building the AI-Centric Network
Huawei introduced its AI-centric target network, designed to shift telecom infrastructure from traffic-focused systems to intelligent, compute-aware networks. Key upgrades include:
- Service layer innovation for AI-powered business models
- Integrated satellite and ground networks
- AI-native core network standards
- Network-wide computing coordination
- Sustainable spectrum planning for future demand
The company also highlighted new monetization models based on high-speed, low-latency services, especially for AI applications and real-time interactions.
5G-A and High-Uplink Growth
Huawei emphasized that 5G-Advanced (5G-A) is now gaining global traction, with over 100 million users. The company is working with telecom operators to commercialize services that improve user experience while increasing operator revenue through higher ARPU and premium connectivity offerings.
A key focus is high uplink capability, essential for AI-driven devices such as AR glasses and real-time translation tools, which require strong, stable upload speeds.
Preparing for the Token Economy
Huawei also highlighted the rise of AI agents and “token-based” digital services, which will demand ultra-broadband, low-latency networks. The upcoming Upper-6 GHz (U6 GHz) spectrum is positioned as a key enabler for next-generation 5G-A deployment, with commercial rollouts expected in select regions starting in 2026.
AI-Powered Network Evolution
The company is also advancing AI-native autonomous networks, aiming for higher levels of automation in network maintenance, optimization, and energy efficiency. This includes developing domain-specific intelligence to improve performance across industries such as transport, campuses, and large venues.
