Verdict and thoughts

The Ryzen 5 5600X is definitely the processor to go if you are upgrading from the Ryzen 1xxx and 2xxx series. If you are currently on the Ryzen 3xxx series, it will not be a wise upgrade unless you are currently on any processors on 4 cores or below . For consumers that want to build a new PC, no doubt the Ryzen 5 5600X will be a great choice for all purposes, whether its VR, Gaming, Editing, Content Creation or just using Office applications. We would recommend at least 16GB of RAM to accommodate the demanding applications today.

Pros

  • Reasonable power requirement
  • Good amount of cache available
  • Wraith cooling fan is included
  • A capable 1080p/1440p processor on High/Very High settings beyond 75 FPS

Cons

  • A520/B550/X570 boards required, older boards may not be compatible with the processor
