HONOR Unveils Robot Phone with Built-In Gimbal and AI-Powered Cinematic Filmmaking

James Li, CEO of HONOR

HONOR has officially unveiled the HONOR Robot Phone in China, introducing a new smartphone category that combines robotics, artificial intelligence and professional-grade mobile imaging.

The standout feature is its integrated 4DoF Titanium Agile Gimbal, which allows the camera to physically move and track subjects. HONOR says the compact mechanism uses more than 100 precision components and over 100 patents, while delivering faster and more precise movement within a smartphone-sized design.

Cinematic Imaging with ARRI Technology

Developed through HONOR’s new partnership with professional cinema company ARRI, the Robot Phone brings selected ARRI imaging technologies and workflows to mobile filmmaking.

The camera system includes a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 2.7x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

The main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording, while ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks provide creators with greater control over colour and dynamic range. HONOR’s H1 Image Chip also supports AI-powered noise reduction and dynamic range optimisation.

The company says the system can deliver up to 14 stops of dynamic range, giving creators greater flexibility during post-production using professional tools such as DaVinci Resolve.

AI That Can Move the Camera

Running on MagicOS, the Robot Phone introduces YOYO Robot Mode, combining AI perception, voice recognition, gesture control and robotic movement.

Features such as AI Live-Tracking can automatically pan and tilt the camera to keep users in frame, while modes including FPV, FPV Vertical, Tilt Lock and AI SpinShot provide more creative shooting options.

Users can also control the camera through gestures without physically touching the phone. YOYO Auto Execution further enables the AI agent to perform multi-step tasks across supported applications.

Flagship Hardware

The Robot Phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform and features a custom cooling system designed to maintain performance during extended recording sessions.

It packs a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The smartphone features a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 6,800 nits peak brightness, 4320Hz PWM dimming and HONOR NanoCrystal Shield protection.

China Pricing

The HONOR Robot Phone is currently available in China in two configurations:

  • 12GB + 512GB: RMB 9,999
  • 16GB + 1TB: RMB 12,999

HONOR has yet to announce Malaysian pricing or availability for the Robot Phone.

HONOR Malaysia Introduces “Dare to Be”

Alongside the Robot Phone launch, HONOR Malaysia has unveiled the brand’s refreshed logo and new “Dare to Be” slogan.

The new identity reflects HONOR’s broader transformation from a smartphone manufacturer into an AI device ecosystem company, with a growing focus on AI, robotics, imaging and cross-device connectivity.

With the Robot Phone, HONOR is positioning its latest innovation as more than just a smartphone, but as an intelligent mobile filmmaking companion capable of physically moving, tracking and capturing content on behalf of the user.
