Huawei through Huawei Digital Power has officially launched its FusionSolar 9.0 Smart PV & ESS solution in Malaysia, introducing a next-generation solar energy platform designed to accelerate the country’s transition toward intelligent, resilient, and sustainable energy infrastructure.

The launch represents a significant evolution from traditional solar systems, integrating advanced artificial intelligence and grid-stabilising technologies to improve operational efficiency and energy reliability. Positioned as a major breakthrough for Malaysia’s renewable energy ambitions, FusionSolar 9.0 was introduced during an event themed “Intelligence Behind Every Ray,” hosted by Huawei Malaysia and attended by 13 prominent speakers from the green technology sector.

Speaking at the launch, Chong Chern Peng, Executive Vice President of Digital Power Business at Huawei Malaysia, highlighted the country’s growing commitment to clean energy transformation.

Malaysia’s target of achieving 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050 requires scalable and intelligent solutions, and Huawei believes FusionSolar 9.0 is positioned to play a critical role in supporting this transition.

The new platform introduces several world-first innovations, including the industry’s first grid-forming string inverter and the first 1000Vac photovoltaic system, enabling support for solar arrays of up to 11 megawatts through advanced system architecture.

A key differentiator is its AI-powered autonomous operational capability, allowing solar plants to self-optimise with minimal on-site intervention. This makes the solution particularly suitable for challenging environments such as mountainous terrain, floating solar farms, and remote island deployments.

Designed for utility-scale and large commercial and industrial applications, FusionSolar 9.0 incorporates Huawei’s latest 506KTL Smart String Inverters alongside its next-generation 3000/7000/11,000kVA Smart Transformer Stations, delivering enhanced efficiency and operational stability.

Complementing the system is the LUNA2000-241 Energy Storage System, which introduces intelligent scheduling and dispatch capabilities. The energy storage solution delivers up to 20% higher energy yields while achieving a round-trip efficiency of 91.3%, maximising both system performance and investment returns.

The ESS platform also strengthens power reliability through seamless transitions between on-grid and off-grid operation, reducing downtime and mitigating operational risks. Built with internationally certified fire safety protection, it is engineered for dependable deployment across demanding industrial environments.

Huawei noted that FusionSolar 9.0 offers measurable long-term economic benefits. Over a 25-year operational lifecycle, the system can reduce operating costs by up to USD300,000, while improving energy output by approximately 1% and increasing fault detection efficiency by more than 50%.

The launch aligns closely with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap, which projects the renewable energy sector to contribute an additional RM220 billion to national GDP and generate up to 310,000 green jobs by 2050.

With FusionSolar 9.0, Huawei is setting a new benchmark for smart solar deployment, combining AI, advanced storage, and intelligent grid management to help drive Malaysia’s renewable energy future forward.
