If you’ve seen a figure in a shiny cape or heard an infectious tune on your commute, you’re not alone. Samsung Malaysia’s latest guerrilla campaign for the Galaxy A Series has gone viral, turning MRT rides into unexpected entertainment — and igniting a social media guessing game.
Launched on 30 June, the Galaxy AYE Train transformed 10 MRT trains into immersive, fully wrapped mobile billboards for the Galaxy A Series, complete with an upbeat brand jingle and live appearances from the now-viral Aye Guy — a mysterious character clad in a holographic cape.
Commuters and content creators alike have been captivated by the surprise activation. Notable creators such as @shengyou, @notnaddyro, @winniejlk, @mayraa.ray, and @zhen_ting quickly shared their experiences online, fueling engagement and sparking a wave of viewer questions, especially: “How many times did you hear ‘Aye’?”
The campaign cleverly blends offline experience with online virality, inviting Malaysians to join the conversation, whether they’ve experienced the AYE Train firsthand or discovered it through social media.
