HONOR Malaysia has officially announced the upcoming launch of its most advanced foldable yet — the HONOR Magic V5 — arriving in Malaysia on 15 July 2025. Already generating excitement online following early previews, the Magic V5 sets a new standard in foldable design, combining ultra-slim form with flagship-level hardware and performance.
Measuring just 8.8mm when folded, the Magic V5 is the slimmest foldable smartphone in the world, lighter and thinner than its predecessor, the Magic V3. Comparable in thickness to a 50-sen coin or three stacked bank cards, it offers unmatched portability, fitting easily into small handbags and pockets without the bulk associated with other foldables.
Power That Lasts All Day
Despite its thin profile, the Magic V5 is powered by a 5820mAh HONOR Silicon-Carbon Battery, an ultra-slim battery engineered for all-day performance. It delivers more power than many larger foldables and supports 66W HONOR SuperCharge, recharging fully in just 40 minutes. It also supports 50W wireless charging, and features the HONOR E2 Power Enhanced Chip, which optimizes energy efficiency over time, perfect for heavy users and mobile gamers alike.
Flagship-Level Imaging with AI Innovation
The Magic V5 introduces a 64MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with up to 100x digital zoom, positioning it as a standout in the foldable category. Paired with AI-driven imaging features such as AI Super Zoom and AI Enhanced Portrait, the device delivers sharp, vibrant images at long range and professional-quality portraits.
Users can capture fine details of distant landmarks or create stunning close-up portraits, with AI automatically adjusting clarity and depth. In addition, the phone includes powerful AI editing tools like AI Cutout, AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, and AI Upscale, offering seamless photo enhancement directly on the device.
Durability Without Compromise
The Magic V5 combines slim design with structural strength. The inner screen is reinforced with Non-Newtonian Fluid technology, which provides enhanced shock absorption and better resistance to impact. An AI Foreign Object Detection system alerts users if even particles as small as 0.8mm (such as grains of sand) enter the foldable mechanism, helping protect the screen from hidden damage.
Externally, the foldable features HONOR Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield on the outer display for high scratch resistance, and a carbon fiber back panel made from Aerospace Special Fiber — offering impact resistance up to 40 times that of standard materials.
Engineered Hinge Durability
HONOR has addressed one of the biggest concerns for foldable users: hinge durability. The Super Steel Hinge can support weights of up to 35kg, as demonstrated during a media preview where it withstood the force of a 35kg dumbbell. Built for long-term use, it’s rated for 500,000 folds, equivalent to folding the phone 100 times a day for over 13 years.
With IP58 and IP59 ratings for water and dust resistance, the Magic V5 offers excellent protection against everyday elements, helping prevent common issues like screen discoloration or water ingress.
