Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Full Review: A Powerful Android Tablet for Work and Entertainment
The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro enters the premium tablet space with a strong focus on performance, productivity, and multimedia experience. Designed to bridge the gap between tablets and lightweight laptops, it competes with top-tier devices in the Android and iPad ecosystems. Here is our review and outcome after a few weeks of usage with it.
Design and Build Quality

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro features a sleek and modern design crafted from a premium aluminum unibody. Its minimalist styling gives it a professional and clean look, while the flat-edged frame enhances grip and usability. Despite housing a large display, the tablet remains impressively thin at just 5.75mm, and its lightweight construction of around 485g makes it easy to carry for daily use, whether for work, study, or entertainment. The rear camera module slightly protrudes from the body, which can cause a minor wobble when placed on flat surfaces. However, this is a small compromise considering the device’s ultra-slim profile and overall build quality, which feels solid and durable.
Display Experience

At the front, the Pad 8 Pro is equipped with an 11.2-inch display that delivers a sharp and immersive viewing experience. The 3.2K resolution (3200 × 2136) ensures crisp detail, making text, images, and videos appear highly refined.

One of the highlights of this panel is its 144Hz refresh rate, which contributes to extremely smooth scrolling, fluid animations, and a responsive touch experience. Whether browsing social media, gaming, or multitasking, the high refresh rate significantly enhances usability.
The display also supports Dolby Vision, improving contrast and color accuracy when viewing compatible content. With a peak brightness of around 800 nits, the screen performs well in most indoor environments and remains usable under moderate outdoor lighting conditions.
However, since it uses an LCD panel rather than OLED, it does not achieve the same level of deep blacks or contrast. Reflections can also become noticeable in bright sunlight, which slightly affects outdoor visibility.
Performance and Hardware

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is powered by the flagship-grade Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and high-speed UFS 4.1 storage on higher configurations, allowing for fast data access and smooth multitasking.

In everyday use, the tablet delivers excellent performance across a wide range of tasks. Apps open quickly, switching between multiple applications feels seamless, and split-screen multitasking runs without noticeable slowdowns.
For gaming, the device handles demanding titles with ease, maintaining stable frame rates and smooth visuals. Even under extended workloads, thermal performance remains well-managed, ensuring consistent output without significant throttling.
Benchmarks

HyperOS 3 Software Experience

The tablet runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, offering a productivity-focused software environment tailored for large-screen use.

The system includes advanced multitasking tools such as split-screen mode, floating windows, and a desktop-style workspace layout that enhances productivity. These features allow users to run multiple apps simultaneously, making the tablet suitable for both work and entertainment.

Integration within the Xiaomi ecosystem further improves usability, enabling smooth connectivity with other Xiaomi devices such as smartphones and laptops.
Despite its rich feature set, the software experience is not without flaws. Some apps are not fully optimized for large screens, and occasional inconsistencies in scaling and layout can be observed compared to more refined tablet operating systems, however that could also be due to the apps optimisation and not the tablet itself, otherwise most of our testing goes well and snappy at all times.
Camera Performance

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro comes equipped with a 50MP rear camera and a 32MP front camera. As expected from a tablet, the focus is not on professional photography but on practical usage.
The front-facing camera performs particularly well for video calls, online meetings, and virtual classes, offering clear image quality and stable performance. The rear camera is best suited for scanning documents, capturing notes, or occasional casual photography when needed.
Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance is one of the strongest aspects of the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. It is equipped with a large 9,200mAh battery, supported by 67W fast charging technology.
In real-world usage, the tablet comfortably lasts between 1.5 to 2 days on moderate usage, which includes browsing, media consumption, and productivity tasks. Even with the high refresh rate enabled, battery efficiency remains impressive.
When it comes to charging, the 67W fast charging support ensures quick top-ups, significantly reducing downtime and making the device convenient for users with busy schedules.
Audio Performance

Audio is handled by a quad-speaker system tuned with Dolby Atmos support. The output is loud, clear, and immersive, making it well-suited for movies, music, and gaming.
Dialogue clarity is strong, and stereo separation enhances the overall entertainment experience. This allows the tablet to deliver a rich multimedia experience even without external speakers or headphones.
Productivity and Accessories

With optional accessories such as a keyboard case and stylus, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro transforms into a versatile productivity tool.
The keyboard accessory provides a laptop-like typing experience, making it suitable for writing, emails, and document work. Meanwhile, stylus support adds value for note-taking, sketching, and creative tasks.
The tablet also benefits from a desktop-style interface in HyperOS, which enhances multitasking and workflow efficiency. However, due to its form factor, using it on the lap may feel slightly less stable compared to a traditional laptop.
