The Xiaomi Watch S3 is the introduction of a lighter Smartwatch utilizing on Xiaomi’s own HyperOS some of the key upgrades and inches closely towards their own WearOS counterpart, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and Watch 2 which has been subsequently launched not too long ago.
We will have a quick look on the Xiaomi Watch S3 along with our concluded view on the experience and of course the verdict of it.
Design & Display
Smartwatches vary in sizes and shapes, this one may resemble higher-end smartwatches, especially those with full-fledged operating systems like WearOS. The Xiaomi Watch S3, on the other hand, uses a lighter HyperOS which will be discussed further below. However, the most important aspect is that Xiaomi successfully achieved a sleek and rounded design that closely resembles the Xiaomi Watch 2. The watch is made with an aluminum alloy frame, stainless steel bezel, and Corning glass, creating a high-end appearance while still being considered an affordable mainstream watch.
The Xiaomi Watch S3 weighs approximately 44 grams, a reasonable weight for a fully equipped smartwatch. It comes with Fluororubber straps measuring 210mm, making it easy to find replacements in the market or online. The interchangeable bezels can be snapped on and twist, and are also readily available on Xiaomi’s online marketplace
Turning our attention to the screen, the Xiaomi Watch S3 features a vibrant and lively 1.43″ AMOLED display that operates smoothly at 60fps. Nevertheless, its brightness reaches a maximum of 600 nits, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.
The Xiaomi Watch S3 is available in Black and Gray color options, each coming with a matching strap color. To be honest, both colors mix well for social or fitness activities, ideal for everyday use with 5ATM water resistance and over 100 watch face options.
Notable Features, Functionality, Experience
To begin with, access the Mi Fitness App by downloading it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. If you have a Xiaomi, Poco, or Redmi phone, it is likely that the app is already pre-installed on the device. You can easily create a Xiaomi account for free if you don’t already have one. Make sure to turn on notifications and grant permissions on your phone, so the watch and phone can synchronize correctly.
Listed below are the features available on the Xiaomi Watch S3.
Enables direct Bluetooth calls and responses with the help of the integrated microphone and speaker.
Music Controls: Compatible with popular music and content control apps like Spotify and YouTube Music, as well as music players from other phone brands.
Barometer: Accurately gauges elevation and atmospheric pressure
Monitoring heart rate involves measuring heart rates continuously.
Sp02/Blood Oxygen measurement: Evaluates oxygen levels in the blood.
Sleep Monitoring: Monitors sleep patterns in three stages – deep sleep, light sleep, wakefulness, and napping with continuous tracking.
Monitoring stress levels continuously and in real-time: Tracks stress levels constantly and live.
Exercise setting: Includes 11 outdoor routes and 150 sports modes, with 40 dedicated to training. GNSS/GPS will be turned on during outdoor workouts as well.
Transitioning to the user experience, setting up the device is uncomplicated due to the user-friendly Mi Fitness app interface, and using the watch is as easy as swiping and tapping on its rounded screen. The trackers can be configured for continuous monitoring, with built-in GPS/GNSS to track and log outdoor activities independently. The Barometer functions that come with it also make it perfect for hiking. According to how we use it, we believe it can typically hold a charge for approximately 7 days with continuous monitoring and selected features. In my opinion, it performed satisfactorily even though Xiaomi states it can last up to 15 days, which is under very minimal strain. UI wise, since it is using the HyperOS, the menu transition, information display and flow remains as close as WearOS, therefore to some of the Smart device users, even myself, the learning curve is easy as ever.

Verdict & Conclusion
The Xiaomi Watch S3 is an alternative approach that bridges the gaps close by close inch resembling a fully fledged casual, semi professional by functions and mimics real close to even it’s own counterpart WearOS series, taking in all of the most needed features and even to the notifications that is so similar to it, part of it thanks to the improvement in UI done within HyperOS. With that said this is a formidable Smartwatch that brings a compelling price of just RM699, still customizable and Xiaomi will just roll on with some of the improvement and fixes just to keep this new generation of Smart Watch from Xiaomi getting better and better.
