Back several months ago, ASUS revealed a whole lot of the ExpertBook series lineup, with that said, recently ASUS sent us a unit of the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip for us to try out. This 2 in 1 Laptop is designed in mind as a refresh upgrade from the previous B3 models released last year.

Design

Well, as we see, the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip very base design is following the previous model release with certain add-ons and enhancements such as the overall curves over the corners are much rounded to maintain the better holding ergonomics with a proper weight balances around it. Speaking of weight, its around 1.61KG, 14 inch form factor which makes it easy to carry. Being a flip also means that the laptop can be used as a normal laptop, tent and tablet mode in 360 degrees.

While the whole build is mainly in plastic, the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip still retains the MIL-STD810H durability which is also spill resistant with added antibacterial guard over the surface providing healthy protection on the keyboard, buttons and touchpad.

The keyboard provides good key travel when using it and anyone can get used to it fairly easily in a short time while the touchpad has an additional function where tapping the numpad icon will reveal the whole numpad on top with it’s while LED, expanding the usage especially if you are not using the touchpad that much and if you need to move around, an external mouse will do as well. There is also a 720P webcam included with a privacy shutter, but dont expect high quality images, its just usable and it’s there when you need it.

Ports and Charging

The ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip comes with a standard supplied USB C 65w charger that supplies charging from 10% to 100 % around 2hours and 30minutes on average. Over on the left side of the laptop you will get two USB C port, both can be use for charging your laptop, data transfer and supports external display, 1 HDMI port, 1 USB port and 1 stylus slot which supports up to 4096 pressure levels. Over to the right side you will get a LAN port, Volume buttons, a microphone combo jack and a USB A port.

Display & Audio

Over on the display side, the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip features a 1080P 14 inch display with blue light filtering. Viewing with the display is comfortable with good viewing angle and colors are not over saturated which is real good although this is not the usual OLED display, coming from a user perspective, it is good for everyday use since this is not a multimedia laptop, rather it is more for productivity and business use. Brightness is excellent also when cracked up to the brightest level. Audio is loud and clear with dual mic noise cancellation support when using it with video conferencing.

Benchmarks & Performance

The ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip features the Intel 12th Generation Core i5-1235U 10 Core processor with Intel Xe integrated graphics, up to 20GB of system RAM, 512GB of NVME storage. Below are the benchmark results.

During benchmark we observed that the temperature rose up to about 68 degree Celsius but it dissipates faster after that to its idle temperatures. Overall such scores are expected since this is a multimedia and work laptop, that also means it is light gaming capable.

As a business laptop, it is still able to play some light games as long the settings are set on low/medium, you still be able to play games like Minecraft or Genshin at a very acceptable frame rate with minor stutters. Genshin Impact will hover around 45FPS if you choose to set it to 720P resolution while DOTA 2 can be cranked up to 1080P low, reaching up to 65FPS average which makes it somehow suitable for some eSports titles.

Over general performance, from Microsoft Office to web browsing, it works pretty well and is satisfying. Over to streaming, you can stream up to 1080P without issues encountered. You should be able to get around 6 hours of usage and if strictly just on editing and office tasks, you can expect around 7 hours of battery only usage.

Verdict & Thoughts

Rating

The ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip is a versatile business laptop that brings simple design to it, while being simple is good with considerable lightweight carry, it comes with the latest features, ports, processors and expansion that one would use it, especially in a productive world where expandability is as important as the performance that is built in to it. Another highlight that this laptop still retain 2 things that can be upgraded or swapped, which is the NVME storage and the Memory slot, if you need more of those, any IT personnel within the organization can just do it with ease with just a few screws removed.

With its starting price of RM3799, it will come with 512GB SSD storage and 8GB of RAM, the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Flip is now available nationwide at any ASUS dealers and online stores.
