ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BN98 WiFi 8 Router Opens Pre-Orders in Malaysia at RM3,988
ASUS Malaysia has announced the upcoming availability of its next-generation WiFi 8 networking products, with the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 (BN25000) now open for pre-orders in Malaysia ahead of its retail launch in October.
The GT-BN98 is positioned as a high-performance quad-band WiFi 8 router, offering total wireless throughput of up to 25,000Mbps. It is powered by a 2.6GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM, with two 10Gbps ports and four 2.5Gbps LAN ports for multi-gigabit wired connections.
ASUS says the router is designed to work with current and future networking devices, with its WiFi 8 architecture also offering potential performance improvements with existing WiFi 7 clients. Technologies such as UEQM (Unequal Modulation) and NPCA (Non-Primary Channel Access) are designed to improve connection stability and reduce interference as compatible devices become available.
The GT-BN98 also features a 16-antenna architecture arranged into eight external antennas, supported by a redesigned 3D structure and thermal system intended to maintain performance during demanding workloads.
Alongside the router, ASUS will introduce the ZenWiFi BN12, a 12-stream tri-band WiFi 8 mesh system scheduled to arrive in October. Designed for larger homes, it supports coverage of up to 7,000 sq. ft., with dual 10Gbps ports for high-speed wired backhaul between mesh nodes.
The ZenWiFi BN12 also includes ASUS AiProtection Pro and customisable Parental Controls without requiring a subscription, while AiMesh compatibility allows it to work with supported ASUS networking products.
ASUS says its WiFi 8 lineup is being developed for global deployment, with regional regulatory requirements, frequency optimisation and localised software support planned for different markets.
The company also highlighted its privacy practices, citing the Cybernews Router Privacy Index 2026, which evaluated privacy disclosures from 25 consumer router brands. ASUS recorded the lowest overall privacy risk score in the study at 34 points, placing it in the Low Risk category. Cybernews notes that the index assesses publicly available privacy disclosures rather than conducting a technical audit of actual router behaviour.
Malaysia Pricing and Pre-Order Offer
The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 (BN25000) will be available in Malaysia from mid-October 2026, with pre-orders starting 25 September at a suggested retail price of RM3,988.
