TikTok Shop Malaysia has reported over 200% year-on-year growth in the number of brands joining its Mall Program, reflecting strong progress in brand protection and authenticity initiatives as the platform gears up for its biggest 11.11 Mega Sale.

Through close collaboration with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), TikTok Shop has trained over 300 local MSMEs and 40 enforcement officers to leverage its Intellectual Property Protection Centre (IPPC) in safeguarding homegrown brands. These ongoing efforts are supported by TikTok Shop’s Intellectual Property Policy and Anti-Counterfeit Policy, which have proactively blocked over 7 million products globally from being listed in the second half of 2024.

“A sustainable e-commerce ecosystem benefits both shoppers and sellers. Our partnerships with MyIPO and KPDN help ensure brand integrity while empowering local entrepreneurs,” said Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, TikTok Shop Malaysia. “We’re proud to see more local names—like Skinmade, Hetch, Mommyhana, SALYRA Shop, Szindore, and Olive House—joining TikTok Shop Mall with our 100% Authenticity Guarantee ahead of 11.11.”

Yusnieza Syarmila Yusoff, Director General of MyIPO, highlighted the importance of collaboration:

“Public-private partnerships are vital in building a responsible digital marketplace. Local MSMEs must also take active steps—such as registering trademarks and reporting infringements—to protect their innovations.”

MyIPO’s JenamaLOKAL300 campaign further supports this initiative under the theme ‘Lindungi Jenama Lokal, Tembusi Pasaran Global’, offering a RM300 reduction in trademark registration fees—bringing the cost down to RM650 for 10 years of protection to make IP registration more accessible to small businesses.
