realme, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, has officially teased a landmark collaboration with RICOH IMAGING COMPANY LTD., unveiling a new era of street photography excellence. Set for its full reveal on 14 October in Beijing, this partnership follows four years of co-development and innovation, culminating in the first joint creation—custom-built for the realme GT 8 Pro.

A Shared Vision for Authentic Photography

The announcement video, “4 Years in One Snap,” features Chase Xu, realme Vice President and CMO, and Kazunobu Saiki, General Manager of RICOH IMAGING’s Camera Business Division, discussing how both brands united around a shared goal: to bring authenticity back to mobile photography.

“Young users are tired of the same over-polished photos—they want real expression,” said Xu. Meanwhile, Saiki noted that both RICOH and realme share a base of young, creative users inspired by the culture of street photography.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary RICOH GR series, known for its sharp optics and minimalist design, the partnership aims to bring GR’s street photography DNA to mobile users worldwide.

GT 8 Pro: GR Heritage in Your Pocket

Jointly engineered by realme and RICOH GR’s R&D teams, the realme GT 8 Pro will deliver a next-level imaging experience, featuring custom color algorithms, unique image tones, and a UI that mirrors the tactile feel of GR cameras.

This fusion of 30 years of RICOH GR craftsmanship and realme’s mobile innovation introduces five classic film-like tones and advanced optical capabilities designed to capture life’s raw emotions—bridging nostalgia with cutting-edge performance.

In Malaysia, the GT 8 Pro is expected to strike a chord with creative youth who seek authentic, expressive photography. From Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant streets to Penang’s art-filled alleys, users can now document daily life through the lens of realism and mood.

“Snap by No Rules” — A New Creative Movement

More than a product, this collaboration represents a cultural shift. The campaign’s tagline, “Snap by No Rules,” embodies a philosophy of freedom and spontaneity, encouraging young photographers to capture real moments instead of chasing perfection.

“Through this collaboration, we hope even non-camera users can experience the spirit of snapshot photography,” Saiki said.

The full reveal of the realme x RICOH IMAGING partnership will take place on 14 October 2025, with the GT 8 Pro leading a new wave of creativity in mobile street photography.
