Transsion Holdings, parent company of Infinix, has entered Malaysia’s top five smartphone brands for the first time in Q2 2025, according to data from Omdia and Canalys. This milestone was fuelled by Infinix’s strong performance in the local market, driven by its gaming-focused GT series and Malaysia’s booming esports ecosystem.

Canalys data shows Transsion secured the No. 5 position with a 12% market share in Malaysia during Q2 2025. Infinix’s GT 30 Pro and GT 30 have quickly gained traction among young, performance-driven gamers by offering flagship-grade performance at accessible price points.
Tommy Xiong, Country Manager of Infinix Malaysia, said:
“Malaysia is one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting gaming markets. With the GT series, we’re not only expanding our market share but empowering local gamers with high-performance devices designed for esports-level play at affordable prices.”
Regional Growth Momentum
Infinix’s success extends beyond Malaysia. IDC data shows its shipments across Southeast Asia surged 27.8% quarter-on-quarter in Q2 2025, the fastest growth by absolute units shipped in the region. The Philippines led with 55% year-on-year growth, while Indonesia secured second place with a 14.7% market share and a 35.1% quarterly increase.
Globally, Infinix shipped 9.6 million units in Q2 2025, an 11.7% increase over Q1, boosting its global market share from 2.8% to 3.2%.
Malaysia’s Thriving Esports Ecosystem
Malaysia’s gaming market, valued at over USD 1 billion in 2024, is home to more than 14 million active gamers. Titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) dominate engagement, with Malaysia recently hosting the MLBB M6 World Championship. Government support, including a RM20 million esports development fund, has further accelerated the industry’s growth.
Infinix has capitalised on this momentum with devices tailored for gamers. The Infinix GT 30 Pro, launched in May, delivers up to 120 FPS gameplay in MLBB, a high refresh rate display, and advanced cooling. The GT 30, launched in September, made flagship gaming features more accessible — introducing capacitive shoulder triggers as a first in its tier.
