Welcome back to another electronic device review everybody! This round I’m doing something rather different, as we’ll be looking at one of UGreen’s latest portable wireless mice! so without further ado let’s get started with the most fundamental of them all :

DESIGN (PACKAGE & OVERALL LAYOUT)

The UGreen Wireless Portable Mouse (from here onward will be referred to as the MU001 model) comes with a greyish white package. The content inside includes one unit of the MU001 model and a copy of the instruction manual and that’s all, you’re basically good to go.

The first thing you could notice regarding the mouse is it has a rather rectangular and smoothed-out edge design with a thin roller situated right between the clicker and is composed entirely of high-quality plastic. That being said it has no grip for the palm or finger just a standard round-off design. So you could straight away tell it wasn’t meant for gaming but for productivity and leisure use. But that’s just the surface look as this mouse packs a punch when it comes to functionality. Although the top surface has a rather dull greyish gamut, it is considered very well-built, if not a little too small for my personal liking.

The bottom part of the mouse consisted of 2 sets of the rubber pad, one being at the top while the latter being below. Other than that the laser indicator light is located in the middle along with the power button and the DPI adjustment button located right above and below respectively.

The MU001 requires 1 AA battery to work, so how do you insert the battery in? Simple there’s a gap on the top of the mouse between the mouse clicks and the main body frame. Just lightly pry it open from the back of the mouse and it’ll review a battery slot along with a USB receiver that is compatible with USB 2.0 and above.

Size and weight-wise, the entire mouse has an approx dimension of 90.83 cm³ (10.8 x 6 x 3 cm) and a weight of 60g. easy to carry anywhere and everywhere.

FEATURES

So the MU001 is paired via the USB dongle alone, which means no Bluetooth pairing. The mouse itself is compatible with Windows OS, Linux, macOS, Chrome OS, and surprise, surprise, Android as well even though the mouse is not Bluetooth compatible. So if you wish to turn your tablet or phone into a temporary computer, this is a mouse for you provided you have a USB type C to USB 2.0 converter carrying around with you, not to mention a keyboard as well. Moreover, it has a 3 million clicks long lifespan, thus allowing prolonged usage unless you forcefully used it as an alternative gaming mouse for intensive games.

Other than that, this is a silent mouse, meaning that is suitable for general office work or studies in quiet places.

PERFORMANCE (GLIDING & CLICK TEST)

As mentioned before the MU001 has a DPI adjustment button included. Odd choice for a general and leisure usage mouse but a pleasant one nonetheless. There are a total of 4 DPI modes available: 1000, 1600, 2000, and 4000 DPI respectively. By pressing the button you’ll be able to navigate between the 4 aforementioned modes. Each press there will be a red flash overlapping the blue infra sensor to indicate a successful switch. If you’re not used to bringing a mouse pad around with you on daily basis then fret not, as the mouse itself are capable to glide around on any flat surface, be it wood or metallic surface.

So attached above are the click test results with the 1600 DPI settings. The mouse itself is able to reach 77% target efficiency. But it’s unable to reach a 100% perfect score in click accuracy but this is mainly due to my slow reaction. But even so, the results had indicated that the mouse is truly geared more towards productivity purposes. Gaming wise is not suggestible unless you’re talking about recreative or casual games like The Sims or other games that are likewise.

VERDICT

3 days into using the MU001 model and I would say it checks all the boxes when it comes to fundamental tasks. Be it spreadsheet or word documents or even casual scrolling through webpages. I wouldn’t say it’s the best as there are better choices but for a mouse with that price tag, it’s more than decent. The only downside I would like to note is there is no grip texture built in mind for the MU001 model. But it is rather subjective when it comes to this segment because personally, I spent most of my time working in the office or studying so having no grip to hold onto seems a tat bit uncomfortable. But I do know some people out there may like this smooth and simplistic design compare to those slightly bulkier mice with grip texture. Also, it runs on a single AA battery, and for me, AA batteries are way better than AAA batteries, as it’s much more convenient to buy compared to AAA batteries (personal opinion).

TL;DR

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • No grip texture

If the MU001 model has piqued your interest, you may purchase the mouse through SHOPEE or LAZADA, whichever you prefer.
