The Small Mighty PC for Home and Office use

Choosing a PC is something crucial in today’s life, especially when we are still continuing working from home, while some organizations are resuming back their operations back in their offices. Well, upgrades and changes are still essentials to keep operations running. Today we will be looking at a small, but pretty powerful PC which is small, space saving MiniPC from ASUS.

Design & Ports

To start, the ASUS MiniPC is one very small form factor system, with a measure size of 115 x 115 x 49 mm compacted into one and weighs about 800 grams lightness in average. Compared to a normal ATX desktop, the ASUS MiniPC is lightweight and so small that it fits almost everywhere, even a small desk with monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Over to the rear IO portions, below is the following IO arrangement

Such IO arrangement is pretty quite expansive, and quite flexible with plenty of USB ports to be used on any occasion. Do take note that although the motherboard rear panel has HDMI and DP port, it is configure as such that it will only use the integrated graphics card as the form factor has no support for installing a dedicated GPU into it.

Lets take a look of the inside of the case, where its really packed inside, but you can only upgrade 3 things inside the unit. The first one being the RAM, which you can use DDR4 SODIMM RAM and expand it up to 32GB RAM x2. The second thing is the existing M.2 SATA SSD can be upgraded to an NVME drive while the third part is the bracket included in the box where you can add another 2.5 inch storage of the user’s choice. Other accessories included are a 65w power adaptor, ASUS standard Keyboard, and ASUS Optical Mouse.

Benchmark Scores

Performance

Performance wise the ASUS MiniPC PN62S is a MiniPC that performs well when comes to YouTube streaming, Office applications which is powered by the 10th Generation Intel Core i5 Processor with 4 cores and 8 threads. So far there is no hiccups or crashes. Even light gaming such as Streets of Rage, DOTA 2 will work with it as long keeping the graphical settings to low. Over slightly intensive editing app such as Adobe Photoshop, it should work as well as image editing on the light level is a breeze for the MiniPC. If you wish to use it as a mini home entertainment, such small form factor would be perfect sitting on the living room as an entertainment device.

Software Suite

The ASUS MiniPC PN62S does includes the ASUS Business Manager suite that does provide flexibility over your Power and energy Settings and Backup/Recovery tools, as well as Driver update notifications. Overall the menu and instructions is easy to understand and crafted towards beginner PC users and business users.

Verdict

Overall, if you wish to have a no fuss system yet still meet all the demands for working, editing and streaming, this is recommended because if it’s very small footprint that is easily fit any desk size and it is so nice just to look at it over a small unit that does quite a formidable productivity tasks with low power consumption and 3 years of warranty by ASUS. Currently the ASUS MiniPC PN62S is selling around RM3099 to RM3499 on an average street price depending on configurations. Moreover ASUS does keep several options open for upgrade such as the SSD, HDD and the RAM portions, so that in the future, if you need more storage and RAM, user can just upgrade it.
