Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced an ambitious strategy to convert all of its global production facilities into fully AI-driven factories by 2030. The initiative aims to embed artificial intelligence across the entire manufacturing value chain — from inbound material logistics and production processes to quality inspection and final shipment — creating a new era of autonomous manufacturing environments.

Building the Next Generation of Autonomous Production

At the core of this transformation is the deployment of digital twin-based simulations across manufacturing systems. By replicating real-world factory operations in virtual environments, Samsung will enable predictive analysis, scenario testing, and process optimisation before real-world implementation.

The company will also introduce specialised AI agents dedicated to key operational areas such as quality assurance, production control, and logistics management. These AI agents will leverage advanced data analytics and pre-validation mechanisms to enhance product quality, boost operational efficiency, and increase overall productivity throughout Samsung’s global manufacturing network.

Expanding AI Into Environmental, Health and Safety

Samsung’s AI integration strategy extends beyond production efficiency. The company plans to enhance Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) operations through proactive risk detection systems and automated hazard prevention technologies.

By using intelligent monitoring tools and predictive safety analytics, Samsung aims to strengthen workplace protection standards and create safer environments across all global facilities.

Agentic AI at the Center of the Transformation

Driving this evolution is “Agentic AI” — first introduced in the Galaxy S26 series — which enables AI systems to autonomously plan, execute, and optimise decisions to achieve defined objectives.

Building on AI expertise developed in its mobile division, Samsung is now extending these advanced capabilities into the manufacturing sector. Through purpose-built AI agents, the company will optimise workflows, predictive maintenance, repair processes, and logistics coordination, ensuring consistent, world-class operational standards at every production site.

Robotics Integration for Advanced Autonomy

To accelerate the shift from conventional automation to intelligent autonomy, Samsung is progressively deploying humanoid and task-specific robots across its facilities. These include:

  • Operating Robots for line operations and facility management
  • Logistics Robots for autonomous material handling and transport
  • Assembly Robots for high-precision manufacturing tasks

In restricted or high-risk infrastructure environments, Samsung will also introduce digital twin-integrated Environmental Safety Robots. These systems are designed to monitor operational conditions, detect potential hazards, and proactively mitigate risks — particularly in areas where human access is limited or unsafe.

In addition, during the 10th anniversary edition of the Samsung Mobile Business Summit (SMBS), the company will introduce its governance strategy for expanding AI autonomy. This framework emphasises embedding safety mechanisms from the earliest design stages, ensuring responsible, transparent, and trustworthy AI deployment for global B2B customers and partners.
