MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro Debuts with 2nm Process and Advanced AI Features
MediaTek has officially introduced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its latest flagship smartphone chipset built using an advanced 2nm manufacturing process. The new platform is designed to deliver improved performance and power efficiency across on-device AI, gaming, photography and everyday mobile computing.
The chipset uses a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU configuration, featuring two C2-Ultra cores clocked at up to 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro cores at 4.35GHz and three additional C2-Pro cores at 3.1GHz. MediaTek claims up to 17% higher single-core performance, 15% faster multi-core performance and a 61% reduction in multi-core power consumption compared with the previous generation.
For AI workloads, the Dimensity 9600 Pro features a dual-NPU architecture and MediaTek’s Agentic AI Engine. Its NPU 1090 delivers up to 51% higher LLM prefill performance, while the second-generation Super Efficient NPU reduces power consumption by up to 40% for always-on AI functions. The platform supports complex on-device AI applications, including models with up to 30 billion parameters.
The chipset also introduces support for LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, alongside a 34.5MB cache and an upgraded Dimensity Scheduling Engine designed to better distribute computing, memory and power resources.
Gaming performance is handled by the new G2-Ultra NX GPU, which offers up to 27% higher peak performance, 24% lower power consumption at peak performance and 18% faster ray tracing. Combined with MediaTek HyperEngine and its Neural Graphics Architecture, the chipset supports gaming experiences of up to 185fps in compatible scenarios.
Photography and video capabilities are powered by the Imagiq 1290 ISP and Dimensity AI Imaging Fusion Architecture. Supported features include NPU-powered 60fps motion capture, 4K240 ultra-slow-motion video, 4K60 AI True Color Tone, 4K120 cinematic log and 17EV imaging.
Alongside the flagship model, MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9600M, which aims to bring advanced AI, gaming, imaging and power-efficiency features to a wider range of smartphones.
The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M are expected to launch during the fourth quarter of 2026.
