GIGABYTE Adds HUDIMM DDR5 Support to Intel 800, 700 and 600 Series Motherboards

HUDIMM_n

GIGABYTE has announced a new BIOS update for its Intel 800, 700, and 600 series motherboards, bringing full support for the newly introduced HUDIMM (One Sub-channel DDR5) memory standard.

The update is designed to make DDR5 platforms more accessible, especially as global DDR5 memory pricing remains relatively high due to ongoing supply constraints.

More Affordable DDR5 Upgrades

HUDIMM, also known as One Sub-channel DDR5, is a new memory specification that uses a single 32-bit sub-channel instead of the dual 32-bit sub-channel design found in standard DDR5 UDIMM modules.

This simplified architecture allows memory manufacturers to produce lower-cost DDR5 modules, making modern DDR5 systems more affordable for mainstream users, entry-level PC builders, and system integrators.

With GIGABYTE’s latest BIOS update, supported motherboards can automatically detect and initialize HUDIMM modules without requiring manual configuration.

Flexible Memory Pairing

One of the key benefits of the update is support for mixed memory configurations.

Users can pair a HUDIMM module with a standard DDR5 UDIMM, allowing combinations such as:

  • 8GB HUDIMM + 16GB UDIMM = 24GB total memory

This gives users a more flexible and budget-friendly upgrade path without needing to replace an entire memory kit.

Available Now

The BIOS update is available now for GIGABYTE’s full lineup of compatible Intel 800, 700, and 600 series motherboards.

Users can download the latest firmware directly from GIGABYTE Motherboard Support Page to enable HUDIMM DDR5 compatibility.
