Samsung Hosts #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final at Gamescom 2026

Samsung Electronics hosted the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final from 27 to 28 August at its Gamescom 2026 booth in Cologne, Germany, bringing together 10 teams from nine countries for the final stage of its global mobile gaming tournament.

The 2026 #PlayGalaxy Cup marked the first time the competition was held as a full-season tournament, with regional qualifiers taking place across North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe.

A total of 32 teams from 17 countries competed in the qualifiers, with the top two teams from each region advancing to the World Final.

Malaysian Team Takes the Championship

After two days of intense competition, Team Malaysia, comprising San Gaming, 1CAA, Adikboy and Acad, emerged as the winner of the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final.

All finalists competed on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with its high-performance processor and optimized thermal management supporting stable gameplay during the high-intensity matches.

The World Final was hosted by streamer Ludwig and livestreamed globally on YouTube through his channel, attracting a total of 12.1 million views.

“This year was the first time the #PlayGalaxy Cup was held as a full season tournament, and we’ve witnessed thrilling competition from start to finish,” said David Moon, Head of Influencer Marketing, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics.

Galaxy Gaming Experience at Gamescom

Beyond the tournament, Samsung also operated a dedicated Galaxy experience zone at Gamescom 2026. Visitors were able to get hands-on with devices including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

Through partnerships with HoYoverse, TiMi Studio and Gameloft, attendees could also experience a selection of popular games across Galaxy devices.

The #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final highlighted Samsung’s continued focus on mobile gaming while bringing together competitive players and gaming communities from around the world.
