Sony Xperia 1 VIII Launches in Malaysia with AI Camera Assistant and Upgraded Telephoto Camera

Sony has officially launched the Xperia 1 VIII in Malaysia, introducing its latest flagship smartphone with a new AI Camera Assistant, an upgraded telephoto camera, and a refreshed premium design aimed at photography enthusiasts and content creators.

Powered by Xperia Intelligence, the new AI Camera Assistant helps users capture better photos by automatically suggesting creative colour tones, lens options, and bokeh effects based on the subject and shooting environment. Inspired by Sony’s Alpha camera technology, the feature makes it easier to achieve professional-looking results with just a tap.

Bigger Telephoto Sensor for Better Low-Light Photography

One of the biggest upgrades on the Xperia 1 VIII is its new telephoto camera, featuring a 1/1.56-inch image sensor—around four times larger than the previous generation. Combined with Sony’s RAW multi-frame processing, the camera delivers improved dynamic range, enhanced low-light performance, and more detailed images with reduced noise.

The device also features a versatile triple-camera system consisting of 16mm, 24mm, and 70mm focal lengths, offering reliable image quality across a variety of shooting scenarios.

Refined Design and Premium Audio Experience

The Xperia 1 VIII debuts Sony’s new ORE design, inspired by natural gemstones and available in Graphite Black, Iolite Silver, Garnet Red, and Native Gold. The textured finish improves grip while maintaining the phone’s premium look.

Sony also retains fan-favourite features including the dedicated camera shutter button and 3.5mm headphone jack, while upgraded full-stage stereo speakers deliver richer bass and a more immersive audio experience.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Performance

Powering the Xperia 1 VIII is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, offering faster performance, improved efficiency, and smoother multitasking. Sony also promises up to two days of battery life, along with battery health designed to last up to four years.

The Sony Xperia 1 VIII is available for pre-order in Malaysia starting today with a recommended retail price of RM6,499.
