HONOR Tops Malaysia’s Foldable Market with 53% Share, Leads Southeast Asia Growth in 2026
HONOR is having a standout year on the global stage, and Malaysia is right at the centre of it. Fresh IDC data reveals the brand has cemented its position as the dominant force in Malaysia’s foldable smartphone segment, while simultaneously posting some of the strongest growth numbers among top Android manufacturers worldwide.
No.1 in Foldables Across Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong
In Malaysia’s foldable smartphone market, HONOR claimed the top spot in Q2 2026 with a commanding 53% share of shipments — more than half the entire foldable category. The story is the same across the region, with HONOR ranking No.1 in foldable smartphones in Singapore and Hong Kong as well, each with over 50% market share according to IDC.
The timing aligns with HONOR’s recent foldable launches, including the Magic V6, which debuted in Malaysia with industry-first durability credentials and seamless Apple ecosystem integration — features that appear to be resonating with premium buyers in these markets.
Fastest-Growing Top Brand in Malaysia and the Philippines
HONOR’s strength isn’t limited to the high-end foldable segment. Across Southeast Asia, IDC data shows the brand led top manufacturers with a 15% growth rate in H1 2026, even as the overall regional market saw a decline in shipments. In Malaysia and the Philippines specifically, HONOR was recognised as the fastest-growing top brand in Q2 2026 — a notable achievement in two of the region’s most competitive smartphone markets.
Double-Digit Growth Where Others Are Shrinking
The trend extends well beyond Southeast Asia. In the Middle East, where the broader smartphone market contracted 13% year-on-year in H1 2026, HONOR bucked the downturn entirely — growing 35% according to international analytics firm Omdia. That made HONOR the only leading vendor in the region to record positive growth during the period, and it has now held a top-two market share position for two consecutive quarters.
Africa tells a similar story, with HONOR surging 53% in H1 2026, sustaining the robust momentum it has built across the continent over the past year.
The Only Chinese Android Brand Growing Globally
Perhaps the most significant data point: IDC figures show that in H1 2026, HONOR was the only Chinese Android smartphone manufacturer to achieve year-on-year shipment growth on a global level. With a 9% increase, it also ranked as the fastest-growing top Android vendor worldwide by shipments — a distinction that underscores how the brand is expanding its footprint at a time when many rivals are pulling back.
For Malaysian consumers, the figures serve as context for a brand that has been aggressively expanding its local portfolio. With No.1 status in the foldable segment secured and broader market growth continuing, HONOR’s presence in the premium and mid-range tiers looks set to deepen through the rest of 2026.
