GoRental Global Powers Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026 with Portable Battery Systems, Cuts 803kg of CO₂e
Global has demonstrated the potential of portable battery energy storage systems (BESS) as a cleaner alternative to diesel generators after successfully powering Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026 at Titiwangsa Stadium.
The three-day event, held from 7 to 9 August, saw GoRental deploy 82 portable battery energy storage systems across 48 open-air booths, delivering an estimated 992.16kWh of energy over 36 operating hours.
The deployment earned GoRental an Asian Record and ASEAN Record for the largest outdoor exhibition powered end-to-end by portable battery energy storage systems. The recognition was presented to GoRental Managing Director Colin Peh by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Federal Territories Hannah Yeoh during the event’s closing ceremony.
According to GoRental, the battery-powered setup helped avoid approximately 297.65 litres of diesel consumption and 803.65kg of CO₂e emissions compared with a conventional diesel-generator setup.
The company also highlighted that portable battery systems can potentially reduce temporary power costs by up to 30%, while providing a quieter operating environment without on-site exhaust emissions.
A Cleaner Alternative for Outdoor Events

GoRental’s battery systems supplied temporary power for various aspects of the exhibition, including booths, demonstrations, talks, product launches and live activities.
The deployment showcased how battery energy storage can support large-scale outdoor events without relying entirely on traditional diesel generators. The systems were also deployed with standards including ISO 20121:2012, ISO 9001, CE and SGS compliance.
Colin Peh, Managing Director of GoRental Global, said the project demonstrated that cleaner temporary power does not have to come at the expense of reliability.
The company believes battery-powered solutions can help event organisers create more comfortable environments for visitors, exhibitors and workers by reducing generator noise, exhaust emissions and fuel-related operating costs.
Supporting Malaysia’s Growing Events Industry
Outdoor Expo Malaysia founder Fathee Razali said reliability was a key consideration when selecting the event’s temporary power solution.
The successful deployment demonstrated that large outdoor events could potentially adopt cleaner energy solutions while maintaining the operational requirements needed for exhibitors and visitors.
With the ASEAN Record now serving as a showcase for the technology, GoRental plans to expand its battery energy storage deployments across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
The company is targeting applications beyond events, including campsites, construction sites, commercial operations and critical infrastructure, while also planning to expand its Power to Empower community initiative.
GoRental hopes the Outdoor Expo Malaysia project will encourage more event organisers, government agencies and businesses to consider portable battery energy storage as a practical alternative to diesel-powered temporary electricity.
