Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery presents its inaugural special exhibition, Picasso and Lin Xiang Xiong: A Dialogue Across Time, now on view until 31 March 2026. The exhibition brings together the works of two influential artists from different eras, united by a shared commitment to the universal theme of peace.

The showcase features over 60 works by Pablo Picasso, including lithographs, posters, prints and silk pieces, alongside more than 300 paintings by Professor Lin Xiang Xiong. Together, the exhibition explores how art responds to war, conflict and humanity’s enduring pursuit of peace.

Picasso’s works reflect his experiences through the Spanish Civil War, World War II and the Cold War, using recurring symbols such as doves, faces and bouquets to express resistance, hope and human dignity. Art critic Alin Avila describes Picasso’s peace works as “a force of resistance and hope amid a fractured 20th century.”

Lin Xiang Xiong’s contemporary works respond to today’s global realities, including ethnic conflicts, regional wars and humanitarian crises, emphasizing that peace remains an ongoing responsibility rather than a historical achievement.

“Picasso’s works were created to circulate within society, not remain in private collections,” said Professor Lin. “They embody the spirit of Art for Peace — art as a platform for social dialogue.”

Rather than focusing on a single masterpiece, the exhibition presents a broad visual narrative through peace-themed series, anti-war posters, and universal symbols, forming a powerful dialogue between past and present.

Picasso and Lin Xiang Xiong: A Dialogue Across Time is open to visitors of all ages at Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery, Penang, until 31 March 2026.
