ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today confirmed that the highly anticipated ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld gaming consoles will officially hit store shelves on October 16, 2025. Powered by the latest AMD Ryzen™ Z2 Series processors, both models promise next-level portable gaming and visitors at Gamescom 2025 will be the first to try them out.
A New Era of Handheld Gaming
Developed in collaboration with Xbox, the ROG Xbox Ally series is designed to give players the freedom to game anytime, anywhere.
- ROG Xbox Ally – Equipped with an AMD Ryzen™ Z2 A processor (4-core/8-thread Zen 2 CPU with 8 RDNA 2 GPU cores), 16GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, 512GB SSD, and a 60Wh battery for reliable performance on the go.
- ROG Xbox Ally X – The premium option featuring the new AMD Ryzen™ AI Z2 Extreme (8-core/16-thread Zen 5 CPU with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores + NPU), 24GB LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, 1TB SSD, and an 80Wh battery for extended sessions.
Both handhelds feature 7-inch FHD 120Hz displays with Gorilla® Glass Victus® protection, WiFi 6E connectivity, advanced haptics, and ergonomic grips inspired by the Xbox Wireless Controller.
Xbox Optimizations for Handheld
To ensure a seamless experience, Xbox has launched a Handheld Compatibility Program. Thousands of PC titles have been tested and optimized, with games carrying either a Handheld Optimized or Mostly Compatible badge at launch.
Additionally, Xbox is introducing advanced shader delivery, preloading shaders during downloads for smoother gameplay, faster startup (up to 10x quicker), and lower battery consumption.
On the Ally X, AMD’s Ryzen AI NPU also unlocks new features such as:
- Auto Super Resolution (Auto SR) – AI-driven upscaling for smoother framerates and sharper visuals.
- Highlight Reels – AI-captured clips of your best gameplay moments, ready to share instantly.
Gamescom 2025 Showcase
Visitors to Gamescom 2025 can go hands-on with both handhelds at the ROG booth (Hall 8, Booth #C-010-B-011). Playable titles include:
Balatro, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Gears of War: Reloaded, Hogwarts Legacy, Lies of P, and Roblox (with featured experiences like 99 Nights in the Forest, Grow a Garden, and Rivals).
Fans will also get the chance to meet Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno — best known as Michael and Franklin from Grand Theft Auto V. The actors star in the latest ROG Travel campaign film and will be greeting fans live at the booth.

Global Availability
