Niat to Foster Financial Inclusion Amongst the Youth : Shariah Live! Dialogue Panel at IIUM

As part of its effort to drive Shariah thought leadership and promote financial inclusion, AEON Bank hosted its first ever Shariah Live! dialogue panel on 3 March 2025, the second day of Ramadan at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Engaging the audience of more than 800 students and university officials, the panel dialogue was moderated by Aniq Muhai and the discussion on ‘Digital banking 101’ was led by Ustaz Wan Rumaizi Wan Husin, Chairman of AEON Bank’s Shariah  Committee and member of the Board of Directors, alongside Ustaz Ibrahim Mohd Hasan, AEON Bank’s Chief Shariah Officer.

Recognising that the future will be shaped and led by today’s youth, the dialogue intended to reach out to bright young minds and future leaders, cultivating the seed of knowledge and promoting greater understanding amongst the grassroots on the basic foundation and core principles of Shariah-compliant finance, benefits  of Islamic digital banking, and ways in which it has the potential to add value and contribute positively to the community.

The evening was concluded with a meaningful iftar, where attendees broke their fast with iftar meals sponsored by AEON Bank at the courtyard of IIUM’s Masjid Sultan Ahmad Shah, organised as part of the Jaulah Iftar programme.

Serving as a bridge for financial inclusion, AEON Bank took the opportunity to open an engagement booth during the event to assist IIUM students in activating their AEON Bank Savings Account-i, which came as a delight for many of them, as it was their first experience with an Islamic digital banking app. Students that visited the engagement booth also received AEON Bank’s exclusive merchandise.
