AEON Bank, Malaysia’s first Islamic digital bank, has strengthened its mobile banking security with the introduction of Mobile Security Platform (MSP), an advanced shielding technology designed to protect customer data and prevent digital threats. This enhancement reflects AEON Bank’s commitment to providing a safe, seamless, and secure digital banking experience.
Proactive Threat Protection with MSP
The Mobile Security Platform (MSP) continuously monitors for potential threats and malware, proactively defending against risks that could compromise the integrity of AEON Bank’s mobile app. If a device is detected as compromised due to:
- Jailbreaking or rooting
- Library modification
- Runtime tampering
- Any unauthorized application modification
the user will receive an immediate security notification, and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled to prevent unauthorized access, data theft, or security breaches.
“Protecting our customers is AEON Bank’s foremost priority as a fully digital bank. The Mobile Security Platform (MSP) shielding technology is crucial in providing a secure and trusted digital banking experience. We want our customers to use our app with confidence and peace of mind,” said YM Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of AEON Bank.
Multi-Layered Security Without Compromising Privacy
AEON Bank emphasizes that the MSP feature does not collect, process, or store any personal information from customers’ devices. Instead, it provides multi-layered protection through the following measures:
Threat Detection and Instant Notification
- If a device is detected as jailbroken, rooted, or compromised, customers will receive an in-app security alert.
- Access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled to prevent unauthorized logins or data breaches.
Guided Resolution for Secure Access
- Customers can restore access by removing detected threats or adjusting device security settings.
- For enhanced security, resetting the device to factory settings is recommended (customers should back up their data before doing so).
Secure Re-Access to Banking Services
- Once the issue is resolved, customers can reinstall or relaunch the AEON Bank app for secure banking.
Customer Best Practices for Digital Security
While AEON Bank continuously strengthens security features, customers are encouraged to take additional steps to protect their accounts and personal data:
Review app permissions regularly to ensure no unnecessary access is granted.
Monitor data usage for any unusual spikes or unexpected high phone bills.
Frequently check account balances and statements—report any suspicious activity immediately to AEON Bank’s Customer Support.
