MSI announced the launch of the AMD Ryzen™ 9000 Series processors, which will be showcased on the new X870 chipsets. These processors, utilizing advanced 4nm CPU process technology, are poised to deliver exceptional performance, efficiency, and versatility, catering to both gamers and content creators. At the initial release, four AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPUs will be available: the Ryzen™ 9 9950X, 9900X, Ryzen™ 7 9700X, and Ryzen™ 5 9600X. These CPUs are compatible with the AM5 socket, and existing AMD 600 Series motherboards can be updated to support the Ryzen 9000 Series via a BIOS update, available on MSI’s support page.
At COMPUTEX 2024, attendees will be able to see two models in action: the MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI and PRO X870-P WIFI. Additionally, a broad range of features will be available across the MPG and MEG series, ensuring options to meet various user needs.
Features of MSI X870 Motherboards
The latest generation of MSI motherboards introduces several highly anticipated features, including the “EZ PCIe Release” and “EZ PCIe Clip II.” The EZ PCIe Release allows users to easily remove graphics cards from the primary PCIe Gen 5.0 Slot on X870-based motherboards. The updated EZ PCIe Clip II features an improved hooking mechanism, making the removal and installation processes smoother.
EZ PCIe Release
With graphics cards becoming increasingly larger and heavier, MSI has reinforced its motherboards with three additional anchor points and thicker slot materials. This enhancement makes the PCIe slot 121% stronger than the previous generation PCIe Steel Armor slot, allowing it to support double the weight of the graphics card, thus ensuring stability and reliability.
Second Generation EZ M.2 Clip II
MSI’s second generation EZ M.2 Clip II simplifies the installation and removal of M.2 SSD storage. The new screwless design allows for easy removal by squeezing the side latch to open the M.2 Frozr, and installation is equally simple – a push locks the M.2 SSD in place, and a slight pull to the left releases it.
As devices advance in speed, MSI motherboards are keeping pace. All X870 motherboards come equipped with Lightning PCIe Gen 5.0 and M.2 slots, maximizing the bandwidth of modern devices. Additionally, all MSI X870 motherboards now include a USB 4 connector, supporting speeds up to 40GB/s.

To ensure fast data transfer and seamless networking, MSI has upgraded the Wi-Fi antenna module with a quick-release mechanism, simplifying installation. The MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI and PRO X870-P WIFI feature 5G LAN, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 technologies. These enhancements guarantee that the motherboards can handle any task or application smoothly and without interruption.
