Tech Giants Promote Each Other and Attract More than 80,000 Visitors

COMPUTEX 2024 concluded yesterday, marking a significant expansion in scale and success. The event attracted 85,179 ICT buyers and professionals from top ten countries including Japan, the United States, South Korea, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Under the theme “Connecting AI,” this year’s exhibition underscored Taiwan’s pivotal role in the global tech industry, drawing international attention and participation.

Exhibitors Showcase Cutting-edge Technological Innovations

IDC forecasts that AI PCs will dominate nearly 60% of global PC shipments by 2027. In response, exhibitors at COMPUTEX 2024 displayed the latest AI applications. Acer and ASUS showcased their AI-driven Copilot+ PCs—Swift 14 AI laptop and Vivobook S 15—highlighting AI’s transformative impact on computing.

The newly introduced smart mobility exhibition area featured leading automotive technology, with major manufacturers like Pegatron Corporation, Clientron, and Retronix Technology presenting smart cockpit solutions. Taiwan’s expertise in advanced communications was showcased through collaborations like ASUS and ASKEY’s 5G enterprise private network solutions powered by Microsoft Azure. Additionally, Pride introduced the AIoT Application Management Platform, a cross-protocol energy smart management system.

The Metaverse also took center stage, with Ganzin Technology demonstrating wearable eye-tracking technology for augmented reality, and Aemass showcasing portable single-lens 3D recording systems and patented 3D cloud imaging and AI algorithms.

Technology Giants Gather and Engage

Dr. Lisa Su, AMD Chairman and CEO, inaugurated the event, with other notable speakers including Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, MediaTek Vice Chairman and CEO Rick Tsai, Supermicro President and CEO Charles Liang, NXP Semiconductors EVP and CTO Lars Reger, and Delta Research Center President Dr. Tzi-cker Chiueh. Their insights on leveraging key technologies to enhance industries and shape the future of AI were complemented by industry partner discussions. AMD’s keynote featured ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih and HP CEO Enrique Lores, while Intel’s keynote included ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih and Acer Chairman Jason Chen. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang made a surprise appearance at the keynotes of Supermicro and MediaTek, enhancing the event’s star power.

InnoVEX: Highlighting Global Innovation Momentum

InnoVEX, the startup exhibition area, saw the highest number of participating countries ever. Startups displayed creativity in applying AI across diverse fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, sports, pets, and tourism. Notable innovations included Pade Technology’s intelligent sorting system and DeepRad.AI’s advancements in medical imaging. ASPN Sports Tech Accelerator and Garage+ showcased AI applications in sports technology, while StarFab Accelerator presented startups focused on AIoT, 5G, and XR technologies.

The InnoVEX startup competition awarded its first prize to Taiwan Polymer Material Company for their sustainable “R-ESG-Rubber” made from recycled waste tires, reflecting the industry’s shift towards sustainability.

Promoting Green Transformation

This year, COMPUTEX introduced the Sustainable Design Award, with BenQ Qisda Group winning the gold award, and ASUS and Acer sharing the silver award. Transcend Information and Wiwynn Corporation received special jury awards for their commitment to sustainability, integrating the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept into their booth designs and activities.

Cross-Industry Cooperation

The event also highlighted Taiwan’s hospitality through diverse cross-industry collaborations. The Sunnyhills Hospitality Lounge provided a welcoming environment with local treats, while the co-branded products of plain-me X Guaiguai showcased local culture, captivating both local and international VIPs.

COMPUTEX 2024 demonstrated Taiwan’s technological prowess and hospitality, setting a new standard for future tech exhibitions.
