HONOR made a notable debut at VivaTech, one of Europe’s largest tech and innovation events. During its keynote, HONOR introduced its innovative Four-layer AI Strategy and announced a collaboration with Google Cloud to enhance upcoming Gen-AI experiences on its anticipated smartphones. This partnership aims to elevate user experiences with advanced AI capabilities.

“At HONOR, we believe in the power of on-device AI to provide personalization, intuitiveness, and privacy protection, enabling users to unlock the full potential of AI safely and securely,” said George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd. “We are excited to advance our collaboration with Google Cloud, combining our expertise to deliver seamless AI experiences to our users,” he added.

Introducing HONOR’s Four-Layer AI Architecture

HONOR’s Four-Layer AI Architecture, integrated into MagicOS, comprises distinct layers that enhance the AI experience:

  1. Cross-device and Cross-OS AI: Forms the foundation of an open ecosystem, allowing the sharing of computing power and services among devices and operating systems.
  2. Platform-level AI: Enables a personalized operating system, facilitating intent-based human-computer interaction and personalized resource allocation.
  3. App-level AI: Introduces innovative generative AI applications, revolutionizing user experiences.
  4. Interface to Cloud-AI Services: Provides users with easy access to extensive cloud services while prioritizing privacy protection.

MagicOS 8.0’s Magic Portal, the industry’s first intent-based UI, supports 100 top applications across seven scenarios, including travel, productivity, messaging, and more. HONOR plans to expand these usage scenarios for more seamless and intelligent AI experiences.

Revolutionizing Portrait Experience with HONOR 200 Series

The upcoming HONOR 200 Series will feature an AI-enhanced Portrait experience, elevating mobile photography. Leveraging AI, the HONOR 200 Series replicates the lighting and shadow effects of Studio Harcourt, a legendary French photography studio. The AI technology breaks down the portrait photography process into nine distinct steps, ensuring studio-quality portraits with every shot.

Set to launch in Paris on June 12, the HONOR 200 Series, powered by MagicOS 8.0, continues HONOR’s mission to democratize AI technology. HONOR also plans to roll out MagicOS 8.0 to its HONOR Magic V2 and HONOR 90 devices, allowing more users to experience the transformative power of AI.

The Human-AI Synergy: Smart Devices for a Better Future

At VivaTech, HONOR hosted a panel discussion featuring industry expert Dr. Justine Cassell, exploring the future of multimodal interaction and its benefits for smart device users. “On-device AI can better empower individuals by offering personalized recommendations while safeguarding user privacy,” emphasized George Zhao.

Dr. Justine Cassell highlighted the growing acceptance of AI in everyday life, noting the integration of verbal and nonverbal cues, and how this predicts the adoption of multimodal-sensitive AI on phones. “The more modalities we engage in an AI system, the more diverse user needs we can address,” she said.

“Human-centric design is at the core of HONOR’s philosophy,” George Zhao added. “By leveraging AI and cross-device integration, we can offer macro-level, unified user intent recognition, providing tailored recommendations and enhancing the overall user experience.”
