Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. unveiled its latest home appliance lineup at the global launch event, ‘Welcome to BESPOKE AI,’ held simultaneously in Seoul, Paris, and New York City. The event showcased Samsung’s vision for enhanced connectivity and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in home appliances, promising to revolutionize the home experience.
Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, highlighted how Samsung’s home appliances, now integrated with AI, offer more than just conventional functionality. The addition of screens to refrigerators, induction ranges, and laundry machines transforms Bespoke appliances into entertainment platforms and central control hubs for other connected Samsung appliances via SmartThings.
“Since the introduction of BESPOKE in 2019, Samsung Electronics has emphasized how appliances can be personalized to suit each user’s home and lifestyle,” said JH Han. “Five years later, we present our vision for AI in appliances, expanding the Bespoke legacy through enhanced connectivity and AI capabilities to elevate the consumer experience.”
Bespoke AI Appliances Sync to Create New Experiences in Various Home Spaces
Samsung’s latest Bespoke AI appliances come equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, internal cameras, AI chips, and SmartThings compatibility, enabling enhanced features and connectivity for a truly smart home. The AI Home, a connected 7-inch LCD display added to multiple products, serves as an intuitive control center for the entire connected ecosystem.
The AI Home features 3D Map View, allowing users to visualize their home and control connected appliances easily. For instance, users cooking in the kitchen can adjust the air conditioner in other rooms through the induction range’s AI Home without leaving their cooking unattended. Users can also start the robot vacuum cleaner from the washing machine’s AI Home, enhancing convenience and efficiency in household chores. Moreover, the AI Home doubles as an entertainment hub, enabling users to play music, watch videos, or access recipes while cooking.
To further enhance convenience, the Mobile Smart Connect feature sends alerts to users’ phones when they are in close proximity to registered appliances, allowing for quick control directly from the phone without searching for remote controls. Additionally, the ‘Calm Onboarding’ feature simplifies product registration by automatically registering purchased products under the user’s Samsung account on the SmartThings app.
Samsung also highlighted its Knox security platform, ensuring comprehensive security for user data stored on connected appliances. The 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™ received the industry’s first ‘Diamond’ level verification for IoT security capabilities by UL Solutions, underscoring Samsung’s commitment to user privacy and security.
