realme shattered record after record when it was founded in 2018 with its unique products, research and development skills, and commitment to green development. Two years after its inception, realme was designated the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand for four consecutive quarters and placed seventh in the global smartphone market. In 2021, realme reached a record-breaking US$100 million in sales in just 37 months (Strategy Analytics).
That same year, realme was rated sixth in the global smartphone market for the first time, becoming the world’s youngest major smartphone brand.
With its “Dare to Leap” spirit and the initial idea of empowering youth to be more daring through leap-forward technology and design, realme achieved breakthroughs and won the confidence of young consumers around the world.
“Since its establishment in 2018, realme has been insisting on developing eco-friendly products with leap-forward designs to have a green impact on young people’s consumption decisions. realme announced its sustainability vision ‘Leap to Greener’ in early 2022 and has been exploring various methods to pursue cleaner and more sustainable operations,” said Wai Kiat Hong, Brand Manager of realme Malaysia.
In the product and packaging design process, realme uses the design idea “3R+1D” and emphasizes on encouraging the reduction, recycling, reuse, and degradability of goods and packaging. The GT2 Pro, realme’s premium flagship, is the world’s first smartphone to employ a biopolymer for its whole back panel, lowering carbon emissions from production by 35.5%. When compared to entirely petroleum-based products, this biopolymer emits 2kg less carbon dioxide per kilogram produced. The proportion of plastic used in the phone’s packaging has also been decreased from 21.7% to a meager 0.3%, implying that there is hardly no plastic remaining. At the same time, realme built a thorough product recycling system to minimize environmental impact.
realme celebrated its fifth anniversary in August and released the “Leap-Forward Climbing Plan,” establishing a new objective of going higher and being the top option for youthful people all around the world. It is expected that in the future, realme would stick to its brand ethos of “Dare to Leap,” insist on sustainable development, and supply forward-thinking goods to young people all around the world.
