Samsung Malaysia brings together top local organizations and university students to explore new possibilities for the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip, as well as mainstream foldable UI/UX.

The initiative’s inaugural partners, AmBank, Family Mart, Maxis, Pay4U, and ZUS Coffee, used Samsung and Android platform capabilities to enhance user experiences on their local apps. During a recent partner sharing session titled ‘Reimagining Foldables for Malaysians,’ they demonstrated their app optimization through the flexible use of screen expansions and multi-angle fold usages.

In the next months, Samsung will welcome more partners, including Gigi Coffee, Golden Screen Cinemas, TGV Cinemas, and Zapp. In addition, Samsung intends to engage with local colleges on a hackathon in which students will submit foldable app concepts. This aligns with its ESG objective of empowering and incentivizing young Malaysian talent to create waves in the innovation world.

“At Samsung, we are passionate about making mobile innovation relevant to consumers. In our bid to mainstream foldable smartphones, we are collaborating with homegrown brands to create unique, local Galaxy Z experiences on their apps that Malaysians use on a daily basis, and bring it closer to their hearts. We invite more local organisations to be a part of this industry collaboration and deliver better experiences to their customers,” said Luke Au, Head of Product Marketing, Mobile eXperience, Samsung Malaysia.

Adrian Tan Li Yen, Head of Retail Digital Business, AmBank

“Customer experience was always paramount in the development of our AmOnline App. We saw an opportunity in foldables as a category Samsung is championing, and we want to be in the forefront of this new category of devices. This led us to explore how we could leverage app continuity along with the expansive screen provided by the Galaxy Z Fold4 to deliver the best possible experience to our users. The guidance and resources made available by Samsung and Google are comprehensive and shortened the go-to-market timeline.”

Mr. Venon Tian, Chief Operating Officer, ZUS Coffee

“At ZUS Coffee, we take great pride in our coffee app and are committed to continuously enhancing it to provide the best possible user experience. When optimising our app, we prioritise three key areas: user experience, performance, and attractive UI design. For the foldables form factor, we have been able to adapt our app to enable multitasking and a rich UI, which lets customers view more details within the same page.”

Samsung Malaysia Electronics’ showcased its partners’ app optimisation on the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series, in its event, ‘Reimagining Foldables for Malaysians’.

Moving forward, Samsung Malaysia will further engage more developers to encourage more apps to be optimized for Samsung’s Z Fold and Z Flip lineup of phones as both segment has been popular among users and a positive moving norm towards productive and casual consumers alike.
