The 2023 Neo QLED and Lifestyle TV lineups from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. have been certified by Germany’s top electrical engineering certification body, Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), for “Circadian Rhythm Display.”
The accreditation demonstrates Samsung’s dedication to creating technologies and solutions that put customers first.
This accreditation acknowledges that the Eye Comfort mode on Samsung TVs offers users who spend more time indoors an ideal viewing experience by automatically regulating light exposure and colour temperature to resemble natural outside light.
The circadian rhythm cycles between inhibiting melatonin secretion for dynamic activities throughout the day and activating it for peaceful sleep at night. Melatonin is a hormone that aids with sleep.
The VDE certification validates the benefits of Eye Comfort mode on users’ circadian rhythms by monitoring circadian stimulus at various illuminance levels and evaluating the influence on melatonin suppression. Based on the findings of the Lighting Research Center in the United States, the certification procedure adheres to the Circadian Stimulus method.
This is one of several verifications received by Samsung TVs, demonstrating the company’s continued efforts to put users and their experiences at the forefront of product design. Previously, Samsung TVs had obtained VDE’s ‘Eye Care’ certification and UL’s ‘Glare-Free’ validation, as well as Pantone’s ‘Pantone Validated’ and ‘SkinTone Validated’ certifications, indicating that certified Samsung screens meet the organization’s colour accuracy criteria.
