Following the launch of its third season, the University e-League (UEL) began its college esports competition with FIFA 22, the first of four game titles.

This round of competition featured 50 students from different universities participating in a Qualifiers and Playoff round to gain a spot in the Grand Finals, which will be held next month. Over 200 university teams will compete in titles like VALORANT, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and PUBG Mobile in the following weeks, bringing even more fun and excitement to UEL.

Teams from Multimedia University (MMU), the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Swinburne University, and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), among many others, competed in the UEL’s FIFA 22 Playoffs last weekend.

Two players from UiTM won the top spots in the Grand Final stage, which will take place on 11 December 2022, after three days of intense e-football competition.

“Competing in UEL and coming this far in the competition has been a tremendous experience for me. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to showcase my abilities amongst some of the best esports talent in the country. While I’m extremely proud to have made it to the Grand Finals, I’m more excited to share the stage with my fellow collegemates. No matter what, I’m sure we will make UiTM proud and we hope to have the support of our fellow students

— Zarif Ilman bin Norjafree from ‘Void Gaming Lab’ one of the FIFA 22 finalists representing UiTM Pahang

The qualifiers and playoff rounds for VALORANT begin this week, and the next two weeks will see similar legs for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and PUBG Mobile. There will be a tonne of esports action between the more than 200 university esports teams that have signed up to compete in competitions. To support their universities in the competition, students, esports enthusiasts, and fans are invited to watch. Up to 20 November 2022, UEL Playoffs will be broadcast live on both Saturdays and Sundays, while the Grand Finals will take place on 10 and 11 December, both via the UEL Facebook page.
