Towards the Space and Beyond
When we talk about Space, as in outer space, it is known to all as the reality that all humanity will travel and discover, and curiosity is always part of every human nature. Little that we know, ASUS actually was one of the commercial grade Laptop that went to the MIR Space Station in 1998, and withstand all the test with its durability even still holds in the Outer Space. To celebrate the historic moment, ASUS released the new ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition and we are happy to be able to test this laptop out.

Design & Ports
Well, if you look at the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition, the base of the build design is indeed based on the standard 14X OLED model, with the same 14 inch portable size, with ASUS signature ErgoLift which helps lifting up the Laptop while dissipating heat off the processor at the same time. Looking closely surrounding the body of the Zenbook you will see the Space themed titanium colored with Morse Codes and space inspired design all around it, including the rear of the laptop as well and carries a weight of just 1.4KG only
The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition left side came with 1 HDMI Port for external display and 2 USB C ports for data and charging. Over to the right you have a full size USB port and a 3.5mm headphone microphone combo jack. Experience with the keyboard is smooth with good key travels and the best part is the fairly spaced Windows Precision TouchPad that doubles also as a numpad just by tapping the right upper corner of the touchpad for 1 second.
Looking closely over the laptop cover lid, you will spot a small display, the 3.65-inch ZenVision display which is user customizable with 6 themes pre-installed under the MyASUS app. All of the animation is displayed in full LED monochrome. Below is the small sample of the live animated LED.
Display & Audio
The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition came with a 14.0-inch, 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED 16:10 aspect ratio with 90Hz refresh rate that fully supports HDR natively. This gives a pleasurable viewing experience with low latency of just 0.2ms with rich color displayed whether you are using it for design purposes, light to medium gaming or just blogging with it which I am doing it at the very moment of this review. Besides that by default it is also a touchscreen display which is an additional convenience for touch zooming and quickly responding over the screen.
Sound wise it is also excellent with stereo sound system certified with the Dolby Atmos and by the audio experts at Harman Kardon. Thanks to its smart amplifier, which can deliver up to 350% more volume than a standard amplifier as claimed by ASUS and from our experience, it does sound loud and clear with good bass and trebles heard on music and movies.
Benchmarks & Scores
The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition features the Intel 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 14 Core processor and 20 Threads with Integrated Intel XE Graphics, 16GB DDR 5 system RAM and 1TB of NVME SSD. Below are the benchmark results.
During benchmark we observed that the temperature rose up to about a warm 85 degree celsius which is quite hot for an Intel Based Laptop but it dissipates quite fast after that to its idle temperatures after 10 minutes . Overall such scores are quite satisfactory since this as a multimedia and work laptop with some light editing combined to it.
Performance
We tested 3 games on this laptop and below are the best configurations.
GAME | SETTINGS | AVERAGE FPS |
DOTA 2 | 1080P, NORMAL, VSYNC OFF | 85FPS |
MINECRAFT WINDOWS 10 | 1080P, NORMAL, VSYNC OFF | 83FPS |
GENSHIN IMPACT | 900P LOW, VSYNC OFF | 58FPS |
The Laptop GPU is equipped with integrated Intel XE graphics, the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space edition can run a few games at Low mixed with Medium settings which makes it suitable over casual category users that still plays quick esports title or even playing Genshin Impact over it’s standard domain hunting with my friends around Asia maintaining about 58 FPS average. Games like DOTA 2, Fortnite should not be an issue as well, just keep the graphical settings to medium or low with resolutions between 720P to 1080P, you will be enjoying your game play just fine.
Over general performance, from Microsoft Office to Video streaming, even some medium editing with Adobe Photoshop, light video editing will work well with it.
