The Galaxy A Series is back and for over the past 2 years, the A Series has been well known as a budget midrange in the smartphone category with at least 3 models has been released so far and more to come in the following months to cater the segment. Every year it has been improved in terms of specification and tweaks over the design as well as the material that is being used to build the phone.

Today we will look at the unboxing and first impression of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, which is one of the 3 A series that is introduced the same time, the A33 and A73. The A33 is cater towards budget and compact size, A53 towards mid range balanced with good sets of cameras and A73 towards bigger screen size.

Unboxing Contents

The SAMSUNG Galaxy A53 5G comes in a Eco friendly white color recyclable phone box. Upon unboxing you will get the following as below

  • Galaxy A53 5G Phone
  • USB C to C charging cable
  • SIM Ejector
  • User Manual & Quick Start Guide

Do take note that the Galaxy A53/33/73 5G does not come with headphone, charger or USB C to 3.5mm audio adaptor, which is the same move they did with the Galaxy S and Z series. However this is to encourage a slim environmental friendly packaging and also to reduce electrical component waste, which everything that is lying around you such as power adaptor, earphones, headphone converters can be reused as the charging is relying on the commonly used USB type C interface. If you dont have any of it, its pretty easy to get one at any of your favorite phone accessories shop or you can just visit any Samsung Online Store or any Samsung Authorized Outlets to purchase one. We would recommend to get Samsung’s 25w charger and the Galaxy Buds Pro or Buds 2.

Color Choices

The Galaxy A53 5G comes in four colors, Awesome Black, White, Blue and Peach. The color that we got for the unboxing is the Awesome Blue color, which represent the color suited for any environment to match with smooth textures, matted based finishing. This phone carries a weight of 189 Grams which is categorized as a standard on par weight phone that not heavy, easily pocketable and carry around.

The Design, Look and Feel

The Galaxy A53 5G inherits some of the last year’s A series design with a seamless construction of a slim form factor with a slight bumped curved surrounding the island rear camera with a smooth touch material that is easy to hold, easy to wipe yet stylish to be shown over any occasion with depth of 8.1mm. The Galaxy A53 5G features a 6.5 inch FHD flat Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate that brings all the smooth silky scrolling and viewing that is suitable in bright environments that peaks up to 800nits.

At the back of the phone you will spot an island of lenses consisting of one 64MP wide lens with PDAF and OIS, one 12MP ultrawide lens, a pair of 5MP macro and depth lens followed by a camera flash. Over to the front side, which is the main display there is one 32MP wide angle Dual Pixel camera, perfect for those who likes to take a lot of portrait selfies and video bloggings. All of the camera in the phone is able to capture wide angle images with Portrait capability. Specifically over the rear camera you have a choice of video recording up to 4K resolution at 30FPS with Efficient Video Format options.

Performance

Performance specs wise, the SAMSUNG Galaxy A53 5G is powered by the new Samsung’s Exynos 1280 5nm with 5G modem which is the first for this year’s introduction of efficient processors which Samsung chose to be on the A33 and A53 lineups with up to 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. The set of configurations is set towards targeting the users craving for a phone that does all but owning the phone at the mid tier affordability with certain flagship features in a phone. Usage wise it is a phone that keeps all your work and play in one, with fast paced display that keeps up on your needs that lasts the whole day with its 5000mAh battery. Watching movies sure is not an issue as it supports variety of playback formats and L1 Widevine certification. On top of that you will also get a pleasant and reasonable audio experience with its top and bottom firing speakers.

Overall on my few days of impression with the SAMSUNG Galaxy A53+ 5G, it is a well performing phone that is priced reasonably with a set of good camera, processor and internal storage to carry on with everything you need. Besides that the set of cameras that has OIS gives better quality in its mid tier class of phone which you can mostly find in flagship phones only. At this point of writing it is on sale retailing at RM1,849 that comes with FREE Protective Standing Cover worth RM99. Stay tuned with the full review which we will be publishing it soon.
