As we all may know, the Samsung S Series of lineup for 2022 has been launched not too long ago and we did 2 reviews so far, The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. So far our experience with it is great and definitely one of the choices out there you can get.

Today we will look at some of the camera features but first, the specs for the camera as below

Rear Camera50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS
10 MP, f/2.4, 70mm (telephoto), 1/3.94″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55″ 1.4µm, Super Steady video
Front Camera10 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1/3.24″, 1.22µm, Dual Pixel PDAF

Basically both the Galaxy S22 and S22+ uses the same camera module and setup for both rear and front camera, so getting one of the mentioned model, you will get the same photo capture quality, the only major difference is the screen size of the phone.

The Front Camera

The front (Selfie) camera of the Galaxy S22/S22+ is a wide angle 10MP camera that features HDR and Dual Pixel sensor, which in layman terms, you get to capture a wider image, combining 2 photodioes in a single lens to achieve better photo quality as a result, which in return produces better colors and contrast. With that it also brings features such as Portrait photo mode which the AI can better determine between the foreground and background of the picture taken

You can also do certain effects, such as the glitch effect where it resembles distortion closely similar to VHS recording, back to the retro style, but with a modern smartphone.

The Rear Camera

The SAMSUNG Galaxy S22 and 22+ rear camera is truly an improved set of camera setup from its previous generation, although the rear camera placement is still the same, the lens setup is not. This time around the Galaxy S22/S22+ focuses on more megapixels towards the main lens (50mp) followed by the 10MP telephoto lens and 12MP Macro Lens. All of which gives higher pixel count capture, better quality and lights with color can be capture in a much accurate manner. As an added advantage, you can capture up to 30X zoom, so basically you can even get a good moonshot.

While moonshots can be done, night captures can be achieved with the night mode where the camera software AI will determine your snap environment and surrounding which will enhance and adjust in order to snap a good photo out, and you do not even need to be an expert to do that

While we talked about night photography, day time is excellent with both automatic mode in 16:9 and the full 50MP captures. The difference being, if you are capturing with its full 50MP sensor, you will get a high quality photo which you can edit, whether with your Galaxy S22 phone or transfer it to your PC or using Google Photos.

Furthermore zoom in pictures quality is still good and when comes to normal day time picture, one of the nicest ones we see over several automatic modes we tested including close up photos, wide mode as well with good portrait and bokeh to it.

The rear camera is able to capture up to 8K at 24FPS, which is a much bigger immersive record formats that is still not too common in smartphones but definitely there if you need it. However we still prefer the 4K at 60FPS or 1080P at 60FPS recording as that is the format that is well balanced in terms of quality, decent file size and excellent outcome with good stability, thanks to the inclusion of Gyro EIS and OIS optics in a package, we had done a video sample as above.

There is more to it, such as Pro Mode (Video and Photo) for those who wanted to adjust ISO, Speed, Contrast manually. Panorama, Hyperlapse, Portrait Video is also there to further immense your creativity on all your photo taking needs, be it an expert or a beginner, the SAMSUNG Galaxy S22 and S22+ has the function ready for you.

Overall, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ is one of the choice for consumers that need only one device to carry to unleash your creativity on photography, video taking, or if you are a simple person that just wanted to snap things fast, quick and with good quality, this phone could be a good candidate for you.
