Magical Multimedia Powerhouse on the go
Today we will look at the latest lineup of the Honor MagicBook series for the year 2021, the MagicBook 15 from Honor is an upgrade from its previous 10th generation Intel processor. This year’s model comes with the Intel i5-1135G7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics card in a lightweight chassis.
Design
The Honor MagicBook 15 design is simple, elegant and that’s exactly how a work laptop looks like. The keyboard is comfortable enough for your everyday typing for all your authoring and documents with a good amount of key travel to it. The keyboard does come with white LED backlight if you wish to work or edit in a dark environment. The MagicBook 15 comes in 2 colors, Space Grey and Mystic Silver.
Let’s look at the power button of the MagicBook, which also features a fingerprint scanner that works well with Windows 10. Over to the trackpad, this is a fairly big spaced trackpad that features Windows Precision Drivers which means that all Windows 10 trackpad gestures and navigation is properly supported.
Looking between the F6 and F7 keyboard you will spot a pop-up webcam that runs at 1 Megapixel resolution, definitely not the best webcam on a laptop, but it gets the job done on your everyday work from home video conferencing.
Ports and Charging
The Honor MagicBook 15 comes with a 65w charger and a USB C to USB C cable that supplies charging from 10% to 100 % around 1hour and 30minutes on average. Over on the left side of the laptop you will spot 1 USB C port for charging and peripheral, 1 USB 3.0 port and 1 HDMI port for extending to a second display. Over on the right side, there is 1 USB 3.0 port and a headphone/mic combo jack should you wish to plug in your favorite headphone.
Thermals and Heat
The MagicBook 15 does a good job in the thermal department, hovering around 40 degree celsius in a normal temperature room while working on documents with literally no noise over the fan heatsink giving it a pleasure working with the laptop. Even on heavy load on editing, it’s only a slight noise over the fan which does not bother me at all
Display
Over in the display department, the MagicBook 15 features an IPS 1080P 15.6 inch display with 100% SRGB accuracy. Furthermore, looking at the display is not glaring and comfortable, perfect for those who are using it for long hours for minor graphical editing and multimedia use. The bezels are thin also, giving it a great viewing angle.
Benchmarks & Scores
The Honor MagicBook 15 features the Intel 11th Generation i5-1135G7 with Intel Iris XE graphics, 16GB of system RAM and 512GB of NVME SSD. Below are the benchmark results.
During benchmark we observed that the temperature rose up to about 65 degree celsius but it dissipates faster after that to its idle temperatures. Overall such scores are expected since this is a multimedia and work laptop.
Performance
We tested 2 games on this laptop and below are the best configurations.
GAME | SETTINGS | AVERAGE FPS |
GENSHIN IMPACT | 900P LOW, VSYNC OFF | 56FPS |
MINECRAFT JAVA | 1080P, NORMAL, VSYNC OFF | 78FPS |
Although we know that this is not a gaming laptop, it is still able to game as long the settings are done right and from the experience of gaming on this laptop, I still can complete my dailies and domain hunting on this laptop, so issues at all with just very very minor stutters. Games like DOTA 2, CSGO should not be an issue as well, just keep the graphical settings to medium or low with resolutions between 720P to 900P, you will play just fine.
Over general performance, from Microsoft Office to web browsing, even editing with Adobe Illustrator will work well with it.

Verdict & Thoughts
With its retail price of RM3699, we can recommend this laptop for those who want something that is easy to carry, work, study and some light gaming. Besides that the design of the laptop is simple yet elegant enough, as all productivity laptop looks should be with its comfortable keyboard and touchpad that also comes together with a great 15.6 inch display.
