Malaysia’s rapid integration of advanced digital technologies, such as cloud computing and intelligent connected vehicles, into the electric vehicle (EV) and smart manufacturing sectors took the spotlight at the recent Huawei Malaysia Automotive Industrial Executive Symposium, hosted by Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia).

During his welcome speech, Mr. Andy Wei, Vice President of Huawei Cloud in Malaysia, praised the Malaysian Government’s policies, which he credited as a driving force in advancing the country’s automotive industry. He welcomed the Government’s ambitious target of installing 10,000 EV public charging points by 2025.

“To achieve these goals, we must address several challenges collectively,” Mr. Andy Wei emphasized. “The most pressing issue is the lack of infrastructure to support the growth of new energy vehicles, including the widespread availability of charging stations. Additionally, we need to integrate cloud computing and IoT technologies and strengthen collaboration within the automotive supply chain.”

Mr. Andy Wei assured that Huawei Malaysia, as a global leader in information and communications technology, is committed to leveraging its extensive global resources and local expertise to meet the evolving needs and challenges of Malaysia’s automotive sector. He expressed confidence in Huawei Malaysia’s ability to contribute significantly to the industry’s connectivity and digitalization, drawing on its mature technologies, solutions, and experience from partnerships with major local automotive players.

The symposium featured detailed sessions showcasing Huawei’s advanced smart automotive industry solutions. Mr. Shen Xianbo, General Manager of Smart Automotive Industry Solution, Huawei Cloud, presented ‘Smart Connection on the Cloud: One Step Faster with Huawei Cloud,’ while Mr. Wubin, Vice President of Cloud Service Outbound Business and Solution, Huawei Consumer, delivered ‘HMS for Car: Global Automation Intelligent Solution.’ Both sessions highlighted how cloud services can drive innovation in the automotive industry.

Prominent industry speakers also addressed various critical areas of the automotive value chain. The Federation of Motor & Credit Companies Association of Malaysia (FMCCAM) provided insights into the resilience and future prospects of the Malaysian automotive industry in its session, ‘Market Insight of Automotive Industry Malaysia.’ Geely Auto’s presentation on ‘Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) near Kuala Lumpur’ highlighted Malaysia’s key role in the global automotive supply chain.

ACO Tech, a Malaysian company specializing in Connected Cars applications and solutions, shared its vision for the future of mobility through intelligent connected vehicle solutions in ‘Driving the Future of Mobility.’ Yonyou Malaysia, a leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software and Cloud Service Provider in Asia, focused on enhancing operational efficiency in the automotive sector with its presentation, ‘Global Digital Solution for Automotive Industry.’

Credence, Telekom Malaysia’s cloud and digital services company, emphasized the importance of digital empowerment—from infrastructure development to turning data into actionable insights—in its session titled ‘Empower Your Digital Capabilities, From Infrastructure to Insights.’

The symposium also facilitated dialogue between Malaysian and Chinese automakers, fostering collaboration and consensus to address industry challenges and support the growth of Malaysia’s automotive sector.

Malaysia’s ambitious targets under the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) aim for EVs to represent 15% of the industry volume by 2030 and 80% by 2050. With Huawei Malaysia’s active collaboration with local enterprises, the company is committed to providing the critical digital infrastructure necessary to support the entire EV ecosystem value chain, from manufacturing to logistics and infrastructure, enabling Malaysia to achieve these targets and maintain global competitiveness.
