Campus Legends Southeast Asia (SEA), a leading inter-tertiary esports tournament series produced by C2E4, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with CAPCOM to host the inaugural Campus Legends Street Fighter™ 6 Southeast Asia Invitational (CLSF6I).

About the CLSF6I

CLSF6I is set to be the largest regional collegiate esports tournament, featuring players and teams from six SEA countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The tournament aims to unite tertiary students, providing them with a platform to showcase their gaming talents and represent their colleges with pride. Scholarships and prize money are also up for grabs.

Shared Vision for Esports

Campus Legends SEA and CAPCOM share a vision of promoting esports as a legitimate and inclusive competition, fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among students. The collaboration aims to elevate collegiate esports by providing a regional stage for athletes to display their skills.

The tournament will feature Street Fighter 6, the latest in the iconic fighting game series, which was the first esports fighting game included in the inaugural Olympic Esports Week last year. This inclusion marks a significant milestone for collegiate esports in the region.

Statements from Leaders

Ricky Bian Li, Managing Director of CAPCOM Singapore Pte Ltd, commented: “Esports within the collegiate landscape has seen exponential growth. We are honored to accelerate that growth with the inclusion of Street Fighter 6 in these Southeast Asia collegiate events led by C2E4.”

Frank Yong, Managing Director of C2E4 Pte Ltd, added: “This partnership is monumental and highlights our commitment to delivering top-tier collegiate events. For esports to advance, we must establish rules and structures for university-level esports, similar to other collegiate sports. We hope C2E4, in partnership with CAPCOM Singapore and Southeast Asia’s Esports Associations, can drive this process.”

Regional Support and Qualifiers

Regional esports associations have expressed their support for CLSF6I and will be kicking off in-country qualifiers. The Singapore qualifier will take place on August 3-4, 2024.

Panupong Ongkhunarak, Secretary-General of the Thailand Esports Federation, noted: “With the SEA Games 2025 featuring esports as a medal discipline, CLSF6I will be an excellent seeding ground for new esports talents and champions to emerge, supporting the growth of the esports ecosystem.”
