ZEISS has a long tradition of collaborating with experts in research and development that paved the way for new technological innovations. In 2020, vivo and ZEISS announced a long-term strategic partnership to jointly promote and develop breakthrough innovations in mobile imaging technology. This resulted in the first vivo ZEISS co-engineered imaging system featured in the vivo X60 series. The partnership also saw the establishment of the vivo ZEISS Imaging Lab, a joint R&D program to innovate mobile imaging technology for vivo’s flagship smartphones.
“vivo and ZEISS has seen many breakthroughs in the mobile imaging front. Through our partnership, customers can experience professional photography and create new photography opportunities with our flagship smartphones. We congratulate ZEISS for celebrating its 175th anniversary and looking to many more years of excellent partnership”, said Mike Xu, CEO of vivo Malaysia.
Named after its founder, Carl Zeiss, ZEISS success story started in a humble workshop on 17 November 1846. It eventually grew and expanded its business into four segments – Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Quality & Research, Medical Technology and Consumer Markets. Today, ZEISS employs over 34,000 people in almost 50 countries. Over its 175 years of history, ZEISS products have contributed to many historical achievements, including the Moon Landing project in 1969, become a renowned supplier for planetariums around the world, and its microscopes are used by Nobel Prize winners today.
“ZEISS has a unique and rich history. And its many technological milestones attest to its repeated – and successful – attempts to challenge the limits of what is physically and technically feasible. This unique innovative spirit has imbued the company with a passion to reach greater heights while helping both us and our customers to be successful,” said Dr. Karl Lamprecht, ZEISS President and CEO.
